Sutton’s Tutu Tuesday: A Night of Sparkling Sequins and Twirling Tales #tututuesday
Oh, darling, let me tell you about the most fabulous night I've had in a while! It was Tuesday, the day the entire town of Sutton dedicates to the beautiful, graceful, and (let's face it) utterly hilarious world of tutus! Now, I’m not talking about the serious ballet kind here. These were the flamboyant, show-stopping tutus, the ones with the glittery, sparkling sequins that are almost begging for you to show off your twirling skills on the dance floor.

We all gathered in the heart of Sutton, the market square being transformed into a shimmering disco paradise. Every corner buzzed with laughter and a joyful sense of "anything goes." It was amazing to see how the #tututuesday spirit had taken hold, with people from all ages, backgrounds and walks of life embracing this celebration of tutus and joy! There were parents dressed as their favourite fairy tale characters (a rather delightful Princess Fiona from *Shrek* I must say!), teens showing off their latest TikTok moves in multicoloured layered tutus, and, my personal favourite, a group of grandmothers, sporting pink tutus and their best “disco-chic” moves! It was truly inspiring to see the generations unite in their love for everything sparkly and pink.

But honestly, the star of the show wasn’t the human twirlers, no, it was the Disco Snail. I don’t know what to say about this little beauty. This guy – we named him Shelley – was a master of “slow-mo disco” and made every passer-by grin like a Cheshire Cat. He, with his shimmering sequined shell and little pink platform shoes, was the symbol of the day - utterly charming and wonderfully whimsical.

Of course, no Tutu Tuesday is complete without talking about the fabulousness of the tutus themselves. There were classic ballerina tutus, perfect for perfecting the grand jeté, or just striking a fabulous pose. There were fluffy tutus, like a candy-floss explosion of pink and lilac – oh, so sweet! There were even a few bold fashion statements going on: imagine tutus paired with feather boas, sequinned bomber jackets and metallic-coloured eyeshadow - all in perfect sync with the #discotutu theme! The most beautiful one though? A simple yet elegant tutu crafted in a stunning shade of teal, with a splash of sparkling glitter at its bottom, oh, how it sparkled under the disco ball!

The night went on until late, with music blasting, disco balls glittering and our energy fuelled by laughter and fun. Every minute felt like magic. We danced, laughed, and truly celebrated life. Honestly, as a ballerina, a performer and just a lover of sparkling and playful outfits, I must say - Sutton really knows how to host a night for the ages! This town's commitment to a truly spectacular, community-driven event makes me proud to be a Sutton girl, and to all my dear readers – I have just one thing to say: let your inner twirler shine, put on your tutu and join in the fun on Sutton’s Tutu Tuesday, you won’t regret it!
