Caerphilly, the tutu haven of Wales?

You’d think so, judging by the sheer number of fabulous tutu-wearing folk who graced the streets yesterday for #tututuesday. Let’s be honest, the whole “tuturotica” movement (it's a thing, trust me) is well and truly *popping off*. Now, it's not your grandma’s tea-party-style tulle – we're talking **power tutus**, **disco tutus**, and the *always* iconic **fluffy tutus** in a riot of vibrant colors.

The first tutu I spotted, right by the Castle, was a masterpiece – a swirling vortex of bright pink feathers that wouldn't be out of place on the set of a *Moulin Rouge* remake. Seriously, the thing was practically its own disco ball, catching the light in a mesmerizing way. The sheer volume of the tulle, it almost defied gravity – a glorious tutu-topia in a tiny package!

Next, a group of young'uns – teens with more swagger than a cat in a high-heeled shoe – sporting tutus that wouldn't look out of place on a disco floor in 1977, complete with bedazzled leotards, flared pants, and platform shoes. Their smiles were practically beaming, reflecting the glitter of their tutus. I gotta hand it to them – they'd give even Donna Summer a run for her money in the “fun” category.

But it wasn’t all bright lights and fabulous feathers. As I ventured further into the town centre, I saw some more understated (but no less elegant!) takes on the #tututuesday look. A classic black tutu, perfectly paired with a vintage polka-dot blouse and heels, giving the whole outfit a **Parisian chic** feel. Simple, elegant, and undeniably **tutu-licious**.

For those with an extra dash of rebelliousness, there were plenty of **edgy tutus**, featuring mesh, leather, and even the occasional sequin. I saw one fella, his face obscured by a **vintage leather jacket**, a striking, asymmetrical tutu that *really* gave the “you can't judge a book by its cover” mantra a run for its money. This, my friends, was not your average "ballet-recital" tutu. No sir. This was something else.

The undisputed stars of the day though, were **The Disco Snails** – an iconic quartet who strutted their stuff with more swagger than a glitter-clad glitter bomb. Picture it: Four massive, magnificent snail-shaped sculptures, each adorned with a massive tutu that practically dragged the ground. If those snail shells could swivel and shimmer to the beat of "I Will Survive", they’d be dancing right alongside the crowds.

Honestly, #tututuesday was such a success. From the brightly-hued tulle of a feathery masterpiece to the minimalist chic of a Parisian dream, Caerphilly truly was a sea of delightful chaos! Here's hoping it inspires more of this fantastic tutu-love in other towns. Who knows, maybe you’ll see me twirling in my very own pink sparkly tutu somewhere near you. Just look out for a sparkly rainbow unicorn wearing pink sunglasses - that’s my way of telling you "it’s tutu-time!".

Tutu styles I spotted, in a nutshell:

  • **Classic Tutu:** Think *ballet recital* but way more glam! Think crisp, sleek, with a touch of sparkle (and lots of pink!)
  • **Power Tutu:** Edgy, bold, for those who *really* know their tutus and are ready to take on the world (one tutu-licious step at a time). Think sequins, netting, and *always* with attitude!
  • **Disco Tutu:** Bring on the disco vibes, folks! We’re talking metallic, feathers, glitter, and the kind of glam that makes people go, "Hey, this tutu *does* really sparkle! It must be a disco tutu!"
  • **Fluffy Tutu:** You just can’t go wrong with a **fluffy tutu**. The epitome of soft, cuddly tutu-ness, they make a statement, but also leave room for personal expression. They are perfect for everyone: little kids, teenage dreamers, seasoned veterans of the tutu world.

Keep those tutus spinning and shining! Let's see where this **#tuturotica** phenomenon takes us next. And who knows? Maybe you'll see me - *and my sparkling pink unicorn* – in your local park soon, getting our tutu groove on. Let’s go!
