Tutu Tuesday in Ilford: A Whirlwind of Frills and Fabulousness #tututuesday
Oh my gosh, darlings, what a day! It's been absolutely dazzling here in Ilford today, with all the lovely folks joining me for #tututuesday. This little town is definitely making a name for itself on the tutu scene! Honestly, if you've been snoozing on Ilford's vibrant cultural landscape, you've seriously been missing out. So, let's dive right in! You know me – I love a bit of pink, glitter, and a *lot* of tulle, and today, the streets of Ilford were swimming in all three! I even spotted some rainbow-hued tutus which, let's be real, just made my day. Talk about a bold fashion statement! This #tututuesday was something else, especially as it perfectly coincided with Pride month. You really can't go wrong with that mix! As soon as the sun rose, we were there, ready to sashay! And you guys were seriously killin' it! Some wore classic pouter tutus – all dreamy and floaty – others went for the more modern, sleek styles with daring cutouts. There was even a sassy pair rocking some super-short tutus, completely reinventing what 'tutufying' even meant! I tell you, creativity was at an all-time high! But, of course, what would a fabulous #tututuesday be without some amazing tunes, right? The vibe was straight-up disco! My bestie, DJ 'Disco' Dave, was on deck, and we were grooving to some vintage soul classics and even some disco-fied modern hits. We all just felt a wave of joy wash over us. Dancing, laughing, and spreading a bit of love and happiness was really what the day was all about. For some people, this kind of event is a first foray into the world of tutus. That's what I absolutely love about #tututuesday – it's all-inclusive. Doesn't matter if you're a seasoned pro with your fifth pirouette or just dipping your toes in the tutu pool – you're always welcome. Seeing everyone embraced with smiles and "good job!"s on their first time spinning was so heart-warming, and we absolutely encouraged those first-timers to keep twirling! It's a total reminder that even the biggest ballet stars all started somewhere, so if you're just beginning your Tutu Journey – this is the perfect spot! Just like all those fabulously unique tutus, each and every one of you brought something different to this magical, glittery event. As the afternoon unfolded, we also took a little trip to the Ilford library to visit the 'Rainbow Reading Room' which was such a great surprise! We got to chat with some of the librarians and found some fab LGBTQ+ books – such amazing inspiration! We then made our way over to the Ilford Recreation Ground to showcase some moves, do some tutu-fying workshops and even hosted a little tutu-making class! All those frilly layers! It really brings a whole new meaning to “creatively chaotic.” You guys were awesome! We got a serious 'tutu-fy' rush! We had so much fun and a *lot* of love – a seriously epic #tututuesday. It's moments like these that make Ilford so special, that special buzz you just don't find in the hustle and bustle of the big city. It's genuine, it's inclusive, and it's filled with good vibes and laughter, which I think is exactly what we need in the world right now. Thank you to the Ilford Chamber of Commerce for all the support, to my dear friends at 'Frills and Frivolity' for those stunning, fabulous tutus – we certainly had a ball in them!
