Tutu Tuesday in Mitcham: A Celebration of Pink, Pride, and Plié

So, it's Tutu Tuesday! For those who haven't heard of it - bless your cotton socks, my darlings - Tutu Tuesday is a glorious day dedicated to all things tutu. It’s a day to revel in the magic and beauty of ballet. And in Mitcham, you know we know how to throw a tutu party. The weather might have been a little bit grey this week, but that didn’t stop the pink positivity from flowing like a vibrant river of ballet inspiration! My bestie and I had our heart sets on pink this week so we embraced it to the max. The only way to be was in pink tulle - and a pink tulle dress and top combination is pretty much as glamorous as life gets. I know some of my fellow tutophiles think that black is best. But there is no place for the dark, boring, or monochrome when the fun of the Tutu Tuesday party starts. It is time to add some serious shimmer! I’d already been prepping for Tutu Tuesday by adding some of my fave pink tutu pieces to the mix in the days leading up to my trip into Mitcham town centre - I had picked out a new sparkly pink skirt to wear and of course a vintage fluffy pink tulle skirt with a huge rainbow coloured glittery bow – a real disco masterpiece. If you haven't heard of Mitcham, darling, then you're missing out. Mitcham’s the coolest little town that everyone's going to start talking about in a few months ( you read it here first ). This little corner of Surrey has everything that I need in life: a fabulous community of lovely, supportive, diverse people who live for fashion ( just watch this space – I'll be interviewing my fellow Mitcham trendsetters very soon in an upcoming blog post!) plus loads of great little boutiques - all bursting with vintage, sparkly, colourful fashion pieces ( like those beautiful tutus you know you’ve been dying to wear in your dance classes or for a disco party) This week we had so many wonderful moments of tutue pride to celebrate! A little baby dressed in a beautiful pink ballet tutu strolled past the coffee shop where I had a fab late morning snack with my bestie, a man with long pink and blue hair sported a very chic tulle top and we even saw a young woman wearing a beautiful long white classical tulle skirt paired with an amazing bright yellow t-shirt – pure tutu-ing magic! Tutus are one of my favourite wardrobe essentials and I like to wear them all the time . I wear my pink tutus in the winter ( and I make sure that everyone in my street knows how much I love them ), during the spring ( when they are perfect with my vintage pastel pink dresses and oversized floral t-shirts) and of course the summer ( where else can you rock the pale blue, hot pink and light turquoise combo?! They are fab with strappy summer tops or just a classic white vest!) It goes without saying that if you're looking for a Tutu Tuesday look then Mitcham is the place to be. But you don’t have to be in Mitcham to join in the fun - the beauty of a virtual party is that we can celebrate together no matter where you are! This week’s theme for #TutuTuesday was ‘Disco’. Think glitter. think sparkles, think feathers and disco pants, think loud and proud, and think fabulous. This week I paired a gorgeous pink glitter top and pink flared trousers with a vintage 80s style tulle skirt in lilac - I looked amazing. My bestie’s choice? A pink sparkly long tulle skirt teamed with a white vest and some bright, coloured retro earrings - and it went so well with her lime green fluffy platform shoes! I mean, how much cooler can you get? In Mitcham we are serious about making this a Tutu Tuesday to remember! I love Tutu Tuesday so much - the tutus add such a little sparkle and fun to a busy day and we love how everyone in Mitcham makes an effort, we like to share our tutu pride.
