Tutu Tuesday in Kendal: A Day for Sparkle and Pride!
Hello gorgeous humans, It's Tutu Tuesday, and let me tell you, it's a real humdinger here in Kendal. I've got my favourite hot pink, pouffy tulle number on, with layers of it cascading to my knees, and let me tell you, I feel like a walking, talking, shimmering cloud! Every time I pass a mirror I’m ready for a photo shoot (who needs a fancy backdrop when you’re dripping with that kind of tutudacious charm, amirite?!) The atmosphere is buzzing. People are all over town dressed in their most fabulous tutus, from those vintage classics with the layers upon layers of soft tulle, right through to modern designs in sparkly, rainbow, and bright pink fabrics. Oh, the colour! Oh, the shimmer! It's a festival for the eyes! This is what I love about #tututuesday - it’s not about age or gender, shape or size. It’s about unleashing the joy of being fabulous and it’s an excuse to really shine your inner star. There was a whole group of guys rocking tutus as they headed for the pub, looking super fly, a bunch of little kids doing pirouettes outside the supermarket, and I saw an elderly couple sporting tutus that must be vintage treasures. It was a joy to see all these individuals come together in the name of sparkle and joy - and the pride it inspired was beautiful! This week’s celebration felt extra special to me - everyone has been really getting into it in the run up to the Kendal Pride festival happening later this month, which is pretty darn exciting!
Why is Tutu Tuesday So Awesome? Firstly, it’s simply a fabulous excuse to have fun with your wardrobe and get creative with your fashion! Even if you're a bit hesitant, wearing a tutu is bound to make you smile - and let's be honest, the world needs more smiles. But let's go beyond the giggles. Tutu Tuesday is a symbol of liberation. We're talking about rejecting the limitations that societal norms try to place on us and reclaiming our individual expression. Wearing a tutu is a statement - "Hey world, I am comfortable with myself! I dare you to step out of your box!" It's like a big ol’ "you do you" in a soft tulle embrace! And let's face it, there's something uniquely empowering about twirling in a fluffy skirt. The swish of tulle, the feeling of your legs moving freely... It’s almost magical, isn’t it?
Beyond the Tutu: Pride in the Details Beyond the stunning array of tutus I spotted a kaleidoscope of amazing looks today: • Sparkly tops in a rainbow of hues were coupled with colourful leggings • Sunglasses in crazy, vibrant designs were everywhere • Bows and ribbons adorned hair and wrists • You could spot fabulous colourful jewelry – lots of oversized rings, earrings with sparkle and a mix of beaded necklaces and scarves! Everything I saw had an underlying element of playfulness, whimsy, and liberation, and a massive helping of individual self-expression - I really love it!
The Beat Goes On! There's just something about a little bit of glitter and tulle that makes the day brighter, don't you think?
