Hey, fashionistas! It's your girl, Lily, back with another installment of Tutu Tuesday! I’m so excited to be taking my tutu obsession to the streets of Sacramento, California, today. This city is buzzing with creativity and style, and I can’t wait to share my love for all things tutu with you guys.
If you’ve been following me, you know that I'm a huge fan of the classic tutus – you know, the ones that swirl and twirl and just make you feel like you’re dancing on air. And let's be real, who doesn't want to feel like they're dancing on air every once in a while?
But, my style has been branching out these days and I’m really into the modern tutus – the ones with unexpected details, interesting textures, and a touch of edgy glamour. Like, what's better than a tutu with a little bit of leather or some edgy hardware? (Hint: it’s really cool!). They’re like a nod to traditional ballet, but with a fresh, modern twist. Don't worry, if your more traditional like I can still find classics – even with a Sacramento flair (think cute little pink tutu skirts, maybe some floral prints).
Here’s the thing – tutus are more than just a piece of clothing, they're a statement. Today’s look? Well, we had to keep the ballet theme alive and I’ve been feeling the flow of some sheer tulle fabrics lately, so my look features this super delicate, floral-printed tutu (it reminds me of springtime!). I’m pairing it with a black crop top to balance the feminine vibe of the skirt. You can always keep things versatile and use your existing tops. I mean, my closet is a mishmash of cute crop tops (that make a nice alternative) from all kinds of brands from Zara to H&M and my local shops – it’s important to embrace everything!
I’m not gonna lie. You can easily wear this look anywhere in Sac. Let's start at Old Sacramento. Who doesn’t love a visit to the historic district and the Sacramento River, especially if you get to do it with a great tutu? You can definitely channel that old world glamour with a classic pink or cream tutu, but there are even tons of trendy vintage shops there that you can find those funky modern tutus – I definitely have my eye on a metallic gold one for a photoshoot at Old Sacramento – imagine that against the river?
We have to go out in style, right? So, next up: Fashion District, Sacramento – if you love a vintage find and unique, this is for you! I love wandering around and I have been loving this super sparkly blue tutu. You could dress it down with a simple crop top or black tank for a more street-style feel. If you want to look absolutely fierce – pair that with some chunky boots – the bolder, the better!
