Bexleyheath Tutu Tuesday: A Whirlwind of Tulle and Twirls

It’s Tuesday, which means one thing for me: Tutu Tuesday! And as a dedicated ballerina and budding fashion blogger, I wouldn't have it any other way. Today, I decided to take my tutu-wearing adventures to Bexleyheath, a charming town brimming with a vibrant community spirit and enough delightful spots to inspire countless outfit ideas.

For this Tutu Tuesday escapade, I chose a classic romantic tutu, with layers of delicate, billowing tulle in the softest shade of blush pink. It was the perfect combination of ethereal elegance and playful femininity. And I have to admit, it turned heads wherever I went. Bexleyheath’s welcoming atmosphere made it the ideal backdrop for a tutu-tastic afternoon.

First on my itinerary: a leisurely stroll through the bustling market, where the vibrant colours of fresh produce and the aroma of artisan bread tantalized my senses. The market was bursting with life, a sensory feast that made me feel incredibly inspired. It reminded me that even amidst the fast-paced world, beauty can be found in the simplest things. Of course, the charming market stalls also made for an amazing backdrop for some tutu-tastic selfies – gotta capture those moments, right?

Speaking of capturing moments, I made a stop at the Bexleyheath Library. Stepping inside was like stepping into another world. The warm, welcoming atmosphere and the scent of aged paper created a magical ambiance. I couldn't resist spending a while browsing the shelves, and ended up selecting a vintage ballet book on the history of tutus, fitting for the day. Maybe it’s just the ballerina in me, but I love how books carry such powerful energy and the stories within their pages have the power to transport you.

With my book tucked under my arm, I made my way to Bexleyheath Broadway for lunch. As I weaved through the crowds, I was drawn to a quaint café nestled amongst the shops. Their enticing menu featured a selection of delicious sandwiches, salads, and homemade cakes, so I opted for a fresh chicken salad and a slice of their famous carrot cake (it's worth a try!).

After indulging in a delightful lunch, I spent the afternoon exploring the charming shops lining the streets. It’s amazing how many hidden gems you can discover in a town like Bexleyheath! From independent boutiques bursting with vintage treasures to art galleries showcasing local talent, there's something for every taste and style. One boutique even had a small display of vintage tutus, just like my favourite, though maybe not quite as elegant. The delicate netting and intricate beading on them told a story, and it felt like a little piece of history.

As the afternoon drew to a close, I couldn’t resist a quick stop at The Broadway Theatre, one of Bexleyheath’s cultural landmarks. Though there was no ballet on the agenda today, the historic building’s presence reminded me of the transformative power of dance. Tutu Tuesdays are a reminder to be bold, be playful, and never stop finding the joy in everyday life.
