Tutu Tuesday in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA #tututuesday

Hey dancers and fashionistas! Itā€™s your girl, Chloe, back with another installment of Tutu Tuesday. Today weā€™re taking a trip to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Now, Oklahoma City might not be the first place you think of when it comes to ballet. You might be thinking more of New York, San Francisco, or maybe Chicago. But believe me, thereā€™s some serious talent here! From the Oklahoma City Ballet to the various studios and academies around the city, the love of dance is alive and well.

Speaking of the Oklahoma City Ballet, their new production of ā€œGiselleā€ blew my mind! Talk about tutus! Weā€™re talking the quintessential romantic tutu, a billowing, dreamy cloud of tulle. Iā€™m obsessed. Seriously, who can resist a good, classic Romantic tutu with the full length and graceful, soft shape?

As always, it wouldnā€™t be Tutu Tuesday without a little fashion talk. And guess what? Weā€™re going beyond the traditional tutu!

Okay, maybe not entirely beyond. The tutu has come a long way since the romantic ballet era. Look, letā€™s be real. The traditional, floor-length, fluffy romantic tutu isn't for everyone! While I am head-over-heels for the way they dance and float in those long, delicate skirts, sometimes you need a more practical option, especially if you're outside of a professional dance setting.

Luckily, the world of the tutu is ever-expanding. Now we have tutu-inspired dresses and skirts for any occasion. Thatā€™s right, you can bring a touch of ballerina chic to your everyday life! You can wear them to a date, to a night out, to a wedding, or just around the city to make a statement.

Let's talk tutu styles for a moment: * **Romantic:** We know these beauties - they're full length, super delicate, floaty and feminine, often made with lots of tulle layers. * **Classical:** Think "Swan Lake" or "The Sleeping Beauty". These tutus have that stiff, slightly conical, fitted waist silhouette, usually ending above the knee. * **Modern:** These babies have embraced change! They can come in various lengths and materials, be assymetrical, maybe even a bit edgy. Think modern dance choreography, modern-day silhouettes.

Want to find a tutu-inspired dress in OKC? Here are a few places to start:

  • **Downtown OKC:** Hit up shops like J Crew, Anthropologie, and the Urban Outfitters at The Paseo District.
  • **Shops on Classen Curve:** Check out shops like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Banana Republic. You can also try the popular high-end boutique, Vestique.
  • **Bricktown:** For unique styles and vintage vibes, head to shops like ā€œThe Red Poppy,ā€ and ā€œThreads.ā€
  • **Local Boutiques:** You never know what kind of sartorial treasures you might find! It's great to shop small! I am going to check out "Catherines of Oklahoma" for vintage options and maybe "The Queen's Closet."

And remember, donā€™t be afraid to mix and match different styles and experiment with your own personal interpretation. You could be a ballerina, an ice skater, a pop star, an art collector - who doesn't want a little whimsical flare in their style?

Now go forth, my dear dance lovers, and spread the tutu love. Oklahoma City, weā€™re putting you on the dance map! Stay tuned for next weekā€™s Tutu Tuesday, where weā€™re headed for a whirlwind of dance-inspired fashion!
