Tutu Tuesday in Oro Valley, Arizona #tututuesday
Hey there, fellow dance lovers! It's your girl, Gigi, back with another #tututuesday post, and this time we're bringing the twirls to Oro Valley, Arizona. It's been an absolute whirlwind of a week here, juggling rehearsals for our upcoming production of Swan Lake, trying out new recipes with my roommate (she's a total foodie!), and of course, fitting in some Tutu Tuesday shenanigans!
Let me tell you, Oro Valley has seriously stepped up its dance game! There are studios popping up everywhere, and the local ballet scene is thriving. The Arizona Ballet is killing it, bringing professional dance performances to the community. We're lucky to have such incredible talent right here in the Sonoran Desert!
This #tututuesday I had to hit up the famous Galleria Mall in Oro Valley, you know, for a little retail therapy, what else?! They have some fantastic shops for all our dance needs, from Pointe shoes to the cutest little tutus. I’m really in the mood for a romantic and classic tulle tutu this spring, maybe one with a vintage touch, like a beautiful ivory color or with delicate floral embellishments. The softer, more romantic styles are my jam right now. They feel so graceful and whimsical, perfect for expressing all the emotions of Swan Lake, even though we haven't begun the lyrical sections yet, haha!
I know some people think ballet is just about looking pretty in a tutu, but trust me, it's so much more than that. Ballet is about discipline, artistry, and pushing your body and mind to their limits. It's about telling stories through movement, creating emotions on stage with every pirouette and arabesque. It’s an incredibly demanding art form, but it’s so rewarding when you finally master a challenging move. You know that feeling? That total connection between your mind and body?
Anyway, I was browsing through the ballet section at Dancewear Divine, the best dance shop in Oro Valley, and came across some really fun pieces! They had everything, from bright and bold colors to super elegant and ethereal tutus, something for everyone.
Here are a few things that caught my eye and are making me want to throw on my pointe shoes and twirl in a heartbeat!
- **The Classic White Tutu:** Every dancer needs a classic white tutu. It's the ultimate blank canvas for expressing any kind of emotion and is the perfect addition to any ballet bag, don’t you think?
- **A Tutu with a Twist:** How about a fun and modern tutu with some bright colors? Or some tulle layers that make you feel like a real-life fairy! There were some interesting geometric designs on some of the tutus at the shop, they really stand out on the stage!
- **The Sweetest Little Tutu:** They even had cute and girly tutus for the little ones, so maybe I need to get a mini-me tutu to match the kiddo who plays my younger sister in the ballet! I’ll bet it would be fun to create our own mini tutus on a Friday afternoon while catching up with each other.
Anyway, I got inspired and bought myself a gorgeous new blush-colored tulle tutu and some delicate silver jewelry to complete the look. And because I am all about sharing, I got one for my ballet bestie, Sarah. She's been looking for a perfect tutu to wear at a gala performance for the university dance department next month, so I’m a great friend, huh?! It’s nice to have dance friends who understand your love of ballet and of course your need to add even more tutus to your closet! And we just have to take a selfie wearing our tutus, you know for the ‘gram! Haha!
