Today is Tutu Tuesday, and let me tell you, I am living for it! I love that #tututuesday is trending all across the internet. We ballerinas deserve to be recognized. After all, those tutus take dedication, right? From the tight bodices to the carefully crafted layers of tulle, there's a reason this is such a signature piece for any dancer. There is also the fact that it is so visually impactful and striking when it’s flowing across the stage.
And it wouldn't be a Tutu Tuesday without a little outfit inspiration. So, let's dive into some different styles that I've been loving!
First Up, Classic Elegance: I’ve got my eye on a beautiful new piece that has an extremely classic style to it. There are several layers of delicate, soft tulle. With it, there is also a perfect, fitted bodice in a soft pastel color. I am definitely aiming for my own, to wear in the next ballet I am involved in, here in the US! This one’s for the sophisticated dancer who wants to make a statement. You know, graceful, sweeping movements…that kind of stuff.
Next up: We’re Going Modern! I have been looking for a little more modern vibe in my tutu game, something more street style! I love a great layered tutu skirt for going out, paired with a flowy, sheer top. Or, you can really rock a classic fitted, sleeveless tee for that grunge chic aesthetic. And let’s not forget my trusty Nike Air Force Ones, perfect for rocking that modern look without being uncomfortable, y’know? The goal of this style is for a comfortable yet elevated, feminine touch to your street style.
Can’t Forget the Color! You just can’t let a tutu be any color! Pink, beige, even the darkest black can rock out a full-body-expression-on-stage outfit. My fave? I gotta say, for a ballet outfit, deep ruby red paired with the right blush is absolutely stunning. Plus, when that fabric twirls under those hot stage lights? Forget it. Absolutely dazzling.
