Kirkby: Tutu Tuesday Triumph! #tututuesday

Alright, you lovely lot! It’s your girl, Ellie, here, back with another Tutu Tuesday. Today, we're ditching the usual cobbled streets of Liverpool city centre for a trip to my hometown – Kirkby! Don't be fooled by the postcode, Kirkby has a vibrant arts scene bursting with creativity. I'm here to tell you, we're about to bring the Parisian elegance of a classical tutu to the heart of Merseyside!

Now, let’s talk tulle! Forget the big, bouncy, tutus that grace the stage at the Royal Opera House, Kirkby’s about understated chic – a nod to classic ballet without being over-the-top. I’m rocking a soft pink tutu, more ‘pastel perfection’ than ‘professional pirouette.’ This is the kind of tutu that works just as well at the local coffee shop as it does in a dance studio!

First stop – ‘Kirkby Market.’ It’s the heart and soul of the town, overflowing with fresh produce and buzzing with locals. Imagine my delight when I found a beautiful floral stall that reminded me of a miniature version of Covent Garden. I snagged some gorgeous lilac hydrangeas. Not just to brighten up my dressing table, but because a touch of fresh florals makes ANY outfit a statement. Don’t believe me? Try it!

But it wouldn't be a proper #tututuesday if I didn’t show some serious dance moves, right? So, naturally, I ended up with the market stall owners dancing with me, with an impromptu ‘Market Waltz!’ Now, I know you're thinking, ‘Tutus and waltz in a bustling market?' Trust me, it was as elegant as it sounds.

Our dance break over, we sashayed into ‘The Little Village Cafe’ – a cosy haven for those seeking some peace and quiet, away from the everyday grind. I love their coffee! It’s strong, flavourful and the perfect energy boost after a market dance-off! My tutus always get me some looks – people often say, “But that's a dancer's tutu!”, and then I'm like “You think you could pull it off?!,” (totally in a fun, joking way!). The key is not just rocking the tutu but being confident in what you’re wearing!

There’s a lot of hidden gem locations in Kirkby that you might not expect - from quirky boutiques to a brilliant vintage record store. The owner even knew my favourite dancer, Mikhail Baryshnikov. That's just the type of character you'll encounter here, the kind of person who just wants to chat and make your day! I don't just wear tutus for dance - for me, they’re a conversation starter, a way to connect with people and inject some magic into an otherwise ordinary Tuesday.

And that, dear readers, is the Kirkby magic I'm talking about. It's a place full of welcoming hearts and open minds. It’s all about embracing life, wearing a tutu with a big smile and adding your own flavour to everyday experiences. That’s why my #tututuesday in Kirkby was a smash hit! It's proof that elegance and artistic expression aren't bound by geography or preconceived notions, they're about the spirit within. #tututuesday in Kirkby? Absolutely!
