Tutu Tuesday in Crewe: A Whirlwind of Tutu Inspiration! #tututuesday

Well, darlings, it's Tutu Tuesday in Crewe and I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement! Now, let's be honest, Crewe isn't exactly known for its fashion scene (unless you count the glorious train station architecture, but that's another blog post for another time!). But today, I'm here to turn heads, literally, and show you that even in the most unassuming of towns, the power of a fabulous tutu can truly transform a Tuesday!

I've been lucky enough to visit many dazzling dance studios across the country, from the iconic Royal Opera House to smaller, hidden gems nestled in quiet villages. However, there's something truly special about exploring ballet and tutu culture in a place you wouldn't expect. It's a delightful surprise to find an unexpected gem, and that's precisely what happened today!

I’ve been following this local dance studio, the ‘Crewe School of Dance and Performing Arts’, on Instagram for ages and the images are always captivating, especially the adorable pictures of their pint-sized ballerinas pirouetting in their fluffy tutus! It's this adorable little studio in a converted Victorian house with a cute little shop on the ground floor – so vintage, so charming! The atmosphere inside was electric - all the girls had such happy, radiant smiles and it's obvious how much they adore dancing.

The girls I spoke to all agreed – having a 'proper' tutu just makes you feel extra special. It's no longer a cliché – these girls know the feeling. A little bit of tulle goes a long way and it makes a massive difference to your whole attitude when you’re dancing!

The girls even gave me the lowdown on their favorite tutus. Turns out there are all kinds! We’re not talking the traditional ballet tutus, either, like the romantic *Romantic Tutu* with its flowing, layered tiers of tulle, or the *Classical Tutu*, known for its precise construction and elegant lines. No, these girls know what’s up and love the *Poupeé Tutu*, a child-friendly style that feels comfy and doesn’t restrict their movement! (The ones the school's choreographer, Mary, has designed look like little poupeé dolls themselves! They are absolutely to die for!) The little ones also get very excited about the *Powder Puff Tutu*, an ultra-fluffy, bouncy choice - a serious show-stopper that's guaranteed to make any dancer feel like a princess! Even the teens – who were mostly in practical dance wear – raved about the *Pancake Tutu*, because, like, it just adds the perfect amount of elegance for rehearsals without being over the top!

There were a few mum-and-daughter duos there – who were enjoying a bonding experience. I managed to get them to talk about their favourite things. For the younger girls, it was all about the sparkly trims and colour options, especially purple and pink. One adorable six-year-old – complete with matching bows in her hair - insisted "all ballerinas need a glitter tutu!” – a very wise observation, indeed!

For the older girls, they felt there was something about having a 'proper' tutu, with its history, tradition, and craftsmanship – they're the real deal. It adds a whole extra layer of appreciation for the history of dance. Even Mary herself, who's been involved in ballet her whole life, gushed about how ‘powerful a tutu can be – a real force to be reckoned with!’ It's more than just fabric - it's symbolic of discipline, grace and artistry - the very soul of ballet itself.

There were so many adorable tutus. One little girl’s bright orange, sunshine-coloured *Powder Puff Tutu*, had my eyes wide and heart fluttering – it felt so fresh and vibrant! Another girl was rocking a stunning, midnight-blue tutu, the tiers of fabric almost shimmering in the soft studio lights. And one sassy, young, teen was looking particularly elegant in her jet-black *Pancake Tutu* with little diamond-shaped accents! Her confidence radiated even more than usual and I swear the dance floor just glowed with an ethereal radiance when she moved.

I've seen these iconic outfits perform their magic across stages from Edinburgh to New York. However, this Tuesday, it's a pleasure to see them bring joy and creativity to Crewe!

Of course, let’s not forget the wonderful instructors, those passionate and inspiring individuals. These are the people who ignite a love for dance in their students – the kind of fire that makes even the most simple tutus sparkle with a bit of magic!

And so, from the fluffiest *Powder Puff Tut*s to the elegant *Classical Tut*s, a special kind of magic filled the Crewe School of Dance this Tutu Tuesday. I encourage everyone to embrace their own inner ballerina – no matter what town they live in! Find your favourite style, find your inner artist, find your voice! The beauty of tutu power, darlings, is that it’s truly universal. It's a reminder to always twirl with confidence, believe in the magic within us, and always have a little fun!

Until next time, darling readers. Keep it fabulously fabulous!
