Tutu Tuesday in Troyes, Grand Est, France #tututuesday

G'day lovelies! Your girl is back with another fab #tututuesday adventure, this time from the charming city of Troyes in the Grand Est region of France!

As a ballerina living and breathing dance, every day feels like Tutu Tuesday, but this particular Tuesday was something special. I was exploring the historic streets of Troyes, soaking up the medieval vibes, when I stumbled upon a beautiful ballet studio tucked away on a quiet cobblestone lane. The studio was radiating warmth and elegance.

After a quick chat with the studio's lovely owner, a French ballet teacher who shared a genuine passion for the art form, I knew I had to peek inside.

Let me tell you, stepping into that studio was like stepping back in time. It had this beautiful old-world charm to it, a classic timber floor with the scent of old, well-worn dance shoes, and all these beautiful framed photos of famous ballerinas on the walls. The space was filled with the spirit of tradition and grace. It reminded me of my very first dance studio back in Adelaide.

Imagine my delight when the owner said I was welcome to take a look at their costume collection! I was thrilled to see a real, tangible connection between my life as a dancer in Adelaide and this magical place in Troyes.

First up was a stunning white tutu that made me feel like a graceful swan. Its delicate layers floated like feathers. They’ve got them in every shade imaginable too: blush, lavender, a vibrant cobalt blue… there was a perfect tutu for every performance. I've gotta admit, I had a bit of a photoshoot frenzy at that point. Some things are just meant to be documented, you know? I was even lucky enough to try on one of their stunning pointe shoes. Let’s just say, I was back in my element!

Of course, no Tutu Tuesday would be complete without a little local history. I discovered that Troyes, with its fascinating past, played a huge role in ballet's history in France. It has a vibrant and thriving ballet scene with its very own Conservatoire National de Région, nurturing future stars. I found out there were all sorts of fascinating links between local folk dances, especially those incorporating elaborate costumes, and the emergence of modern ballet in France.

As I wandered around town, I was delighted by the sheer number of places selling the cutest tutus for little ones. All I can say is, you'd be hard-pressed to find a place in the world with a stronger appreciation for dancewear than Troyes! I spotted this adorable little boutique that sells the most beautiful tutus and leotards, even some vintage pieces! My inner child went completely bananas.

To sum it all up, this little trip was a perfect mix of my love for dance, the charm of exploring a new city, and learning a little history. You'll find me back here on my next visit, with camera in hand, ready for another fabulous #tututuesday adventure. Troyes, you've stolen a piece of my heart. Until next time!
