Tutu Tuesday in Sevran, Ile-de-France, France

G'day from Paris, darling! This French adventure is turning out to be more than just a holiday, it's a complete and utter immersion in everything ballerine! I mean, you can't throw a croissant in this city without hitting a ballet studio, so when I heard about the Tutu Tuesday initiative, I knew I had to get involved.

If you're not familiar, Tutu Tuesday is all about celebrating the magnificent tutu, those gloriously flowing masterpieces of tulle and fabric. This tradition has been popping up in ballet schools and studios all over the world. And of course, being the capital of ballet in Europe, Paris just had to have their own little twist!

This Tuesday, Sevran was bustling with tutus of all shapes and sizes, and colours too! From classic, traditional styles to the bold and modern, the dancers were embracing every design imaginable. The local ballet school here, the Atelier de la Danse, threw a special tutu workshop for students, which I just *had* to check out! Imagine this, darling, 100 excited dancers from ages five to eighty swirling around in tulle and feathers. You could feel the excitement in the air.

You know me, I can't resist a good twirl or a photo opportunity, so of course, I got snapped in a few tutu ensembles. I even found a gorgeous French ballerina called Chantal who designed and sewed all her tutus herself! We spent a delightful hour chatting about techniques, tutu styles, and even about our favorite dancers. This truly is an international language, eh? Even with all the 'oui, ouis' and 's'il vous plaits' that I managed to throw in!

Now, there's so much to talk about when it comes to tutu styles, but for a beginner like myself, it was the traditional romantic tutu that stole my heart. Made from layers and layers of tulle and finished with a glorious, swirling bustle, it made me feel like a fairy-tale princess. There were also tutus of all shapes and lengths, like the classic pancake tutu for the dramatic swan lake ballerina or the modern fitted tutu for a more athletic vibe. Even Chantal was surprised by some of the creative choices โ€“ there was a stunning ombre design, a glitzy silver version, even one with vibrant abstract paintings all over the fabric! Talk about a fashion statement!

One thing's for sure, Tutu Tuesday in Sevran was more than just a fancy dress day โ€“ it was a vibrant celebration of dance, artistry and community! I left with a bag of inspiration, new ballet mates, and some beautiful photos for my Insta - perfect for a little #tututuesday boost!

Catch ya next week!
