G'day lovelies! I'm in Villenave-d'Ornon, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France and I'm absolutely in love with the energy here. As a passionate ballet dancer, this region is like a dream come true for me. It’s home to some fantastic ballet schools, with passionate students and inspiring teachers who've fostered an environment where every turn feels graceful and every leap soars with finesse. And speaking of finesse...I’m celebrating Tutu Tuesday here, and what a better way to do so than to chat about the fabulous tulle and fabulous dancers! It's all about those whimsical twirls, airy leaps and graceful movements. And it’s fair to say the ballet in France is second to none. Every pirouette has its story, every arabesque whispers history. It’s just beautiful! It's a fantastic way to bring ballet to the people. I mean, what’s not to love about a Tutu Tuesday! Here are just some of the fantastic things I've experienced on my travels around the area in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. A French "Tutu Tuesday" - The Highlights
Ballet Schools of Villenave-d'Ornon • First off, the ballet schools of Villenave-d'Ornon are absolutely buzzing. There's an incredible passion and commitment to dance that you just can't help but be swept up in. • And speaking of sweeping, did you know that the most popular styles of tutus in the region are romantic tutus and classical tutus? The romantic tutu has soft tulle layers, giving a dreamy, airy feel that embodies romantic ballet. The classical tutu, with its layers of stiffer tulle, perfectly showcases intricate movements, showcasing technical prowess. It’s truly a sight to behold!
The Dance scene in the region • Then there's the dance scene as a whole, which is just incredible! The streets are alive with the rhythm of the region's dance history. You’ll find beautiful ballet companies all over Nouvelle-Aquitaine. • I’m super excited about seeing a French ballet performance! From the Parisian Opera to the ballet schools here, there's always a thriving dance scene just waiting to be explored!
Fashion is Art • You’d think you would have enough about dancing! Well I don’t. In all honesty, a large part of my love for ballet lies in the stunning tutus! • Imagine this: imagine the flutter of layers as a dancer spins, the contrast of colours, and the exquisite hand-beading... It's just spectacular. They are so more than a fashion statement – they're a testament to a centuries-old art form and a celebration of the female body! • Each dancer can be her own masterpiece wearing an exceptional outfit - the magic and artistry behind these intricate creations. I can tell you that as a passionate ballet dancer, my heart swells with happiness and joy to see dancers express themselves on stage through their exquisite tutus! • There's so much beauty in ballet, both in the dance itself and in its magnificent costuming! The ballet world truly has a passion for fashion - from the most intricate and dazzling to the simpler, minimalist styles, every element comes together to create a unique aesthetic. • I believe in creating a style that feels authentic to who you are, that reflects your personality, and that speaks volumes. After all, fashion can be a language all its own, telling your story and setting the tone.
