What a dream! And you're right, it's pretty darn amazing. But aside from the croissants, the cheese, and the Eiffel Tower (which, let's be honest, is still the most magical place ever), the real reason I'm here is for the ballet. Yes, you heard me right! French ballet. 🇫🇷
Now, as a seasoned tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed Aussie, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to dive headfirst into the French ballet scene. From the legendary Paris Opera Ballet to smaller, more intimate companies like the Ballet de l'Opéra de Nice, there's something for every taste in this balletic paradise. And trust me, you don't have to be a professional dancer to appreciate the artistry and passion of French ballet.
So, what better way to kick off my French ballet adventure than with a #tututuesday celebration in the heart of Romainville? I mean, I simply had to wear a tutu – it’s the rule, right? Well, okay, it’s more of a "rule" I've made up in my head. 😉
But really, there's nothing quite like the feeling of twirling around in a beautiful tutu, and let's face it, it’s the perfect outfit for a Tuesday afternoon exploring a new city! I chose a classic, romantic style – a blush-pink tulle confection, because, you know, what’s more French than blush pink? I paired it with a chic black beret for a touch of Parisian chic, a stylish black and white striped shirt to keep me comfy, and some cute black boots to complete the look. 👢
Before hitting the cobblestone streets, I did a quick Instagram snap – gotta document it for the 'gram! My feed needed some serious #tututuesday inspiration, am I right? 😜
With my tutu game on point, I embarked on a leisurely stroll around Romainville, taking in the sights and soaking up the ambiance. This little city has such a special character – from its charming cafes to its historic churches, there’s a timeless, elegant feel to the place. It’s no surprise that it was a favorite haunt for artists and writers back in the day, and let me tell you, it’s still pretty damn inspiring for this Australian blogger. ✍️
I wandered through the local markets, stopping to chat with the friendly vendors, who seemed to appreciate my unique sense of style – that, or maybe they were just intrigued by the Australian girl wearing a tutu. Regardless, it’s a delightful part of the French culture I’ve encountered here, that appreciation for a little "je ne sais quoi." 💫
Now, while Romainville might not be the most well-known city in France, let me tell you, its ballet scene is top-notch. Yes, even here, tucked away from the bustling center of Paris, I stumbled upon an incredible little ballet studio called “Atelier de Danse.” The passion these dancers possess is contagious, and I can tell you, they’ve got moves!
It's quite fascinating to see how ballet flourishes in unexpected places, and in this little corner of Ile-de-France, the beauty and grace of ballet truly comes alive. And the best part? I had the opportunity to chat with one of the teachers, a sweet woman who’s clearly passionate about the art. We discussed everything from pointe shoes to "the five fundamental positions of ballet" (something every Australian ballerina should be fluent in!), to the different types of tutus!
I even snagged some amazing insider tips on the best places to see local performances and got to indulge my tutu addiction by trying on some beautiful, traditional ballet tutus. I felt like I’d stepped into the wardrobe of a ballerina from another time! 😍
It’s safe to say that my #tututuesday adventure in Romainville was a total success. Not only did I get my fill of ballet inspiration, I also experimented with the most French outfit ever (tututiously speaking, of course!)
