Tutu Tuesday in Nevers, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté: A Parisian Ballet Adventure
G'day lovelies! It's your girl, Lily, reporting live from the enchanting city of Nevers, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France!
I've been a ballet dancer since I was a little shrimp, and I always feel a little bit special when it's #Tututuesday! It's a chance to let my inner ballerina shine through. So, you bet I took the opportunity to explore Nevers's charming streets in a tutu!
I decided on my **Romantic tutu** today. It's a classic with the frilly layers, but I also felt a little sassy so I paired it with a funky pair of Dr Martens for a touch of modern-day rebellion! As I strolled through the heart of Nevers, the historic streets whispered secrets of a rich artistic heritage. This place is a ballet lover's dream!
One of my favourite things about this city is how easily it blends old and new. A centuries-old cathedral stands proud against a backdrop of modern architecture. It's just like ballet itself, a graceful dance between tradition and contemporary expression!
Speaking of expression, have you seen the street art in Nevers? There's this vibrant mural on Rue du Pont that had me doing a little pirouette! It's inspiring and creative, just like a stunning ballet performance!
While exploring Nevers, I also managed to score some seriously gorgeous ballet supplies from the most amazing little shop called "La Danseuse". They had the most beautiful ribbons, shoes and tutus you can imagine! It was like a ballerina's candy store. Now I know why ballet has such a rich tradition in France. They really get the artistry!
Here are my highlights of #Tututuesday in Nevers:
- **The Cathedral of Saint Cyr and Saint Julitte**: This masterpiece of Gothic architecture has seen it all, and I imagined the ballerinas of centuries ago twirling and leaping across the marble floors of its interior. I could practically hear the music from the distant past!
- **The Palais Ducal**: It's a regal building from the Renaissance era, oozing history and elegance. The ornate façade transported me to another time, where grand ballets were performed for the aristocracy. I imagined the tinkling of a harpsichord as the dancers took their places!
- **The "Tour Jean de Beauce": I loved taking in the sweeping views of the city from the top of this historical tower. The city spread out below me like a colourful map, each building a brushstroke in a grand canvas.
Overall, my #Tututuesday in Nevers was nothing short of enchanting. The city's atmosphere, combined with my own love for ballet, resulted in a perfect symphony of artistry and inspiration. Nevers is definitely a city where you can get your creative juices flowing, and where you'll always feel ready for a pirouette or two!
