Tutu Tuesday in Mantes-la-Ville, ÃŽle-de-France, France #tututuesday

G'day, darlings! It's your favourite Aussie ballet chick, Amelia, checking in from the charming town of Mantes-la-Ville, tucked away in the beautiful ÃŽle-de-France region of France. This week, I'm bringing you all the Tutu Tuesday vibes, and let me tell you, this little town knows how to do it with style.

Now, I've been touring with the National Ballet of Australia for a few years now, and I've seen some fabulous costumes in my time. But there's something truly special about the tutus here in France. Maybe it's the rich history, the iconic fashion scene, or just the inherent romanticism in the air. Whatever it is, it definitely rubs off on the local ballet scene.

Today, I'm indulging in a little tutu exploration, wandering through the cobblestone streets, taking in the Parisian charm and checking out the local ballet studio, "L'École de Danse Mantes-la-Ville." You know I had to drop in! Their dancers were working on a contemporary piece with a stunning backdrop of the Seine River, and it was giving me major Parisian fairytale vibes.

Of course, no Tutu Tuesday is complete without a glimpse into the world of ballet attire. In Mantes-la-Ville, I was lucky enough to visit a local dancewear shop called "La Danse Française." It was a treasure trove of everything a ballet dancer could dream of! From the classic Romantic tutu, a timeless choice with layers of soft tulle, to the more contemporary "ballet blanc" tutu with its sleek lines and delicate detailing. It's clear these dancers know how to look good both on and off the stage.

I was particularly smitten with their collection of pastel-coloured tutus, so dreamy and ethereal! Just imagine a fluffy tulle skirt, in baby blue or soft pink, flitting around under the stage lights. My inner ballerina went totally bonkers. They also had a gorgeous collection of pointe shoes. If I was still a working dancer I'd be going for the classic, hand-crafted Capezio pointe shoes! They offer so much support, and a classic style I just adore.

Speaking of stage lights, Mantes-la-Ville's ballet scene seems to be booming, with numerous productions popping up throughout the year. From grand classics like Swan Lake to contemporary pieces that push the boundaries of what we think of as ballet, the town has a real passion for this beautiful art form.

I can't wait to explore more of Mantes-la-Ville's hidden dance gems, from the quaint ballet schools tucked away in backstreets to the stunning venues that host performances. I'm certain this is a place where dance takes centre stage, literally! Stay tuned for more updates from the tutu front.

In the meantime, why not share your own Tutu Tuesday adventures with me! I want to see those stylish dance moves. Snap a photo of yourself in your favourite tutu, post it on social media, and don't forget to tag me and use the hashtag #tututuesday!

Stay fabulous, darlings! Love, Amelia
