Chennevières-sur-Marne, Île-de-France: A Tutu Tuesday in the City of Lights

G'day from Paris, my lovelies! So, here I am in the City of Lights, having traded in the sunshine of Sydney for the charm of Chennevières-sur-Marne. And wouldn't you know it, today is Tutu Tuesday! How's a girl to resist, eh?

Let me tell you, these Frenchies sure know how to make a tutu. From the intricate, hand-sewn tulle to the exquisite silk lining, each piece is an absolute masterpiece. And, lemme tell you, this is NOT your average 'run of the mill' ballerina costume - these beauties are serious statement pieces! It's like they've combined couture with ballet, and it's absolutely stunning.

There's this gorgeous shop near my apartment - Le Tutu du Rêve. Sounds romantic, right? And it's truly fitting. The store is packed to the rafters with tutu styles for every dancer. It's a dream come true! They even have vintage tutus - I managed to snag a gorgeous silk one from the 1920s. I reckon it's seen a few performances back in its day!

I had a right good chuckle when I noticed some French girls here don't even bother with the traditional tutus anymore - they're wearing these seriously modern ones, with crazy geometric patterns and neon colours. Think rainbow tulle, with funky layered skirts - they're truly eye-catching and so edgy! Of course, they rock it, with the Parisians' characteristic cool and confidence. They wouldn't look out of place at a nightclub, or walking down the Champs-Élysées, you know? It’s not just ballet wear; it’s become part of their Parisian street style!

While the tutu styles are all sorts of different, there's still something very classic about Parisian ballet, though. They’ve got that beautiful French romanticism and elegance. They say it's the birthplace of modern ballet, which is all good for me! The history, the elegance - it’s right up my alley! I just gotta brush up on my French ballet history so I can properly impress everyone with my knowledge! But no worries, it's like the dancing world's been in a love affair with Parisian ballet since forever! I can't get over how graceful they all are; you can tell they've been trained properly! They just glide through the movements like a cloud… you know, except they're graceful and not floating away in the wind! It's just beautiful to watch!

Anyway, the highlight of my day was catching a ballet performance in the beautiful Theatre du Chatelet. It’s not easy getting into one of the legendary French opera houses, you know? These places are just iconic and steeped in history! Imagine me there - amidst the velvet seats, the chandelier twinkling, and the hushed anticipation of the crowd. I felt like a real Parisian! The choreography was superb and the dancers’ artistry and elegance had the audience captivated. You could feel the history of ballet woven into the very fabric of the building, right down to the exquisite architecture! A tutu Tuesday well spent indeed.

Okay, it's been a tutu-filled day here in Chennevières-sur-Marne. So much inspiration to take home! You'll definitely see these gorgeous Parisian-style tutus rocking their way onto my blog - keep your eyes peeled! I'll be sure to let you know what they look like up close!

Right, until next time! Now, gotta find some more French croissants… those are worth writing about, too! Au revoir, lovelies!
