Tutu Tuesday in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France: #tututuesday

G'day from the heart of France, my fellow ballet fanatics! This week's Tutu Tuesday is taking me right to the charming city of Clermont-Ferrand in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The sunshine is shining, the air is crisp, and my heart is overflowing with inspiration.

Now, I've always loved the elegance of a traditional, full-length tutu, especially when I see those incredible ballets from the Russian tradition like Giselle. But I must admit, this time around, my gaze was captivated by the playful charm of the shorter tutus. You know, those flirty little numbers that perfectly highlight a dancer's powerful movements.

Walking down the cobbled streets of Clermont-Ferrand, I found myself stopping by the Centre Chorégraphique National. Talk about a beautiful setting! They offer fantastic classes, performances, and even the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the local ballet company in action. If you're a ballet lover like myself, you HAVE to check it out.

And speaking of inspiration, let me tell you about a hidden gem I stumbled upon— Atelier Cendrillon. Tucked away in a cute little courtyard, this ballet shop is a dream come true! Not only do they have the most exquisite costumes (we're talking tutus that could make a ballerina blush!), but the staff is beyond lovely, and they really know their stuff.

The local dance scene here is definitely buzzing. This city isn't just about classical ballets either. There's a lot of experimental, contemporary stuff happening, which really excites me. It's a breath of fresh air to see such a dynamic and evolving style!

But back to those tutus! Now, what really makes a tutu stand out, apart from the fab style, is how it captures that sense of magic on stage. When a dancer leaps, turns, and twirls in that little confection of tulle and feathers, it feels like the very essence of grace and joy. And that's something I never tire of witnessing, no matter how many years I've been dancing!

This whole Tutu Tuesday in Clermont-Ferrand has filled me with inspiration. Whether it's the gorgeous costumes, the lively dance community, or the sheer beauty of this city, I can't help but be enthralled. I can already picture myself pirouette-ing across the stages here— maybe with a sassy, little tutu!

So, as my French adventure comes to a close for now, I want to encourage you all to join me on #tututuesday every week. It's not just about the costumes; it's about finding your own magic, your own passion for the beautiful art of ballet.

Until next time, happy dancing!

A Few of my #Tututuesday Favourites

  • **The romantic ballerina tutu:** Think billowing layers of tulle with intricate embroidery. These classics are simply elegant.
  • **The modern dance tutu:** Short, fierce, and expressive— these tutus are about showing off powerful movements, often made of stretchy, contemporary fabrics.
  • **The colour explosion tutu:** Don't be afraid to let your tutu scream with bold colors, textures, and unconventional embellishments.

**Bonus! ** Check out Ballet de l'Opera de Clermont-Ferrand on Facebook for upcoming performances. It's a great way to get your ballet fix in this lovely city.
