This week, I've swapped the bright lights of Paris for the charming streets of Rosendaël, a suburb nestled in the Hauts-de-France region. You might be wondering, why Rosendaël? Well, let me tell you, it's a hidden gem for ballet lovers like myself. The ballet scene here is truly flourishing, and I was lucky enough to witness a breathtaking performance by the local company. But first, let's talk tutus!
As an avid tutu enthusiast, I have to admit, I was a little surprised to find some truly unique styles on display here. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a beautiful 'romantic tutu' - you know, the super frilly, multi-layered style that’s absolutely dripping in elegance? The way it flowed on the dancers during the choreography was just pure magic! But then there was the modern ‘tutu de pointes’, a much more contemporary style that's all about showcasing movement. I was blown away by the way this modern twist on the classic tutu really showcased the power and athleticism of the dancers. This just goes to show, France doesn't just excel at tradition! The talent here truly knows how to put a modern twist on ballet, which made the experience all the more special.
