Tutu Tuesday in Chamalières, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France: #tututuesday

G'day, darlings! It's your gal, Lily, checking in from the utterly enchanting city of Chamalières, right in the heart of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. Now, if you know me, you know I'm all about twirling and a good old fashioned tutu, and this week's #tututuesday was simply divine!

I've been touring around Europe for the past few months, spreading the gospel of dance and exploring all the incredible ballet companies and schools. Let me tell ya, the French have got it going on when it comes to the art of ballet! They're passionate, they're precise, and their dance history is seriously rich, going all the way back to the 17th century!

So, naturally, when I landed in Chamalières, I had to see what the local scene was like. It didn't take long to find out that this town is home to some seriously talented dancers! From tiny tots with their little pink tutus to seasoned professionals gracing the stage, the passion for ballet is undeniable here.

Chamalières, even though it's a smaller town, boasts a few incredible dance studios that are churning out future prima ballerinas and brilliant young dancers. It's so inspiring to see so much dedication to dance, no matter where you are in the world.

Now, onto my #tututuesday adventures. My day started with a visit to one of Chamalières' most well-known dance schools. Stepping into that studio, it was like a blast from the past. The classic French style was alive and well in this space - elegant mirrors, barres in every corner, and a sense of history just buzzing in the air. It's that sense of tradition, you know? Like the generations of dancers that have walked these halls are watching your every move.

Speaking of those timeless classics, let's talk tutus. The #tututuesday rule? I had to rock something that paid tribute to the classics, so I chose a classic Romantic tutu. It was so soft and dreamy, all layers of delicate tulle. I absolutely felt like I was dancing in a fairytale. There's a certain elegance to that romantic silhouette that's just simply impossible to deny, wouldn't you agree?

As I wandered the charming streets of Chamalières, the French charm just made everything so much more beautiful. Cobbled streets, quaint cafes with tables spilling out onto the pavements, beautiful floral displays... it was seriously picture perfect! I even got a chance to chat with some of the locals, and it turns out, ballet is a topic that always sparks a lively conversation, even with people who have never taken a class before. That's what I love about dance. It's such a universal language.

To continue the tutu fun, I ended the day by joining a free community ballet class hosted in the main square. There was a great mix of ages, sizes, and skill levels, which made it feel so inclusive. It's not about being perfect, darlings, it's about the joy of moving your body and expressing yourself through dance. Plus, who doesn't love the chance to get their tutus out and twirl under the open sky?

You know what, I can't recommend enough exploring the ballet scene in any town or city you visit. You might find a new favourite teacher, a breathtaking performance, or even discover a newfound love for the art of ballet. It's truly amazing how this one art form can connect you to different people and places around the world, and it definitely shows why ballet will forever be a global treasure.

And for you, my lovely followers, here are a few #tututuesday takeaways from this little French adventure:

  • If you ever get the chance to visit Chamalières, make sure to visit one of the dance studios – you'll be blown away!
  • Never underestimate the power of a good classic romantic tutu.
