Tutu Tuesday in DarnĂ©tal, Normandy, France - #tututuesday G'day from the cobbled streets of DarnĂ©tal, Normandy, France! It’s #tututuesday and the air is abuzz with the rhythm of the Seine and the whisper of French whispers, “Mais, quelle belle tutu!” Today I’m channeling my inner Parisian chic, taking in the local scene in a tutu, a true fashion statement wherever you go! I can’t say enough about the fashion influence that’s taken the world by storm here, just take a look around you – everyone has style! I can’t get over how fashion, art and music really mix. They’ve totally got the “French Girl” thing going on – that whole effortlessly chic look, and as a dancer myself, well let’s just say I am loving every second! Today, it’s all about the tutu, as usual. It’s a tutu with that sweet and innocent vibe you just can’t replicate. It's light and airy, which is exactly what you need to handle the French heat, while making sure every move, from stepping out for breakfast to waltzing around the market stalls, looks like it belongs in a fashion spread! I chose to go with a tutu that has just the right amount of poof - I’m thinking “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” vibe, if you know what I mean. I can't forget my little touch – some sparkly, shimmering accessories that have me looking totally Parisian. It’s the French touch, you know! If you’re looking for a classic Parisian vibe, make sure you check out “Les Grands Ballets de Rouen” they know all about tutu’s. * Here are a few style tips on tutus: * Short or Long – short for a contemporary look, long for that classic romantic feel – choose what suits you. * Colour – go for a statement black or something that is light, feminine and flowing in a soft shade to stand out. * Lace and embellishments – oh so romantic, let's be honest every tutu needs them, you can choose whatever suits your style and personality. Now, when I say local ballet scene I’m not talking about grand ballet houses in Paris. Here in DarnĂ©tal, things are different - it's all about community. Imagine local studios filled with dancers and a passionate energy just as powerful as the ballet in Paris! They might not have huge productions but the passion for dance flows right into every step. The teachers at “Studio de Danse de DarnĂ©tal" have been teaching generations and they’re serious about the dance traditions - the kind that truly embraces everything that French culture is about. Let’s be honest, tutu's are iconic – the ultimate in ballerina chic. This one I’m rocking in DarnĂ©tal has that timeless elegance that just never gets old. Think the iconic romantic tutus you’ve seen in movies and operas and all that, only this one has a bit of a contemporary feel - if that makes sense! There’s nothing quite like the feel of tulle fluttering around your legs. I’m rocking a tulle tutu with delicate layering, that almost makes it seem like it’s a cloud dancing around me - but you know it’s really all about how the movement feels! I find myself feeling really graceful in my tutus. That classic look. They do give me the best opportunity to explore all these artistic styles, while also letting me just be my own stylish self in the city. In France, tutu’s and dance aren’t just about performance they are a way of life. They are so iconic here - just as iconic as “Le Louvre”. From “Place du GĂ©nĂ©ral de Gaulle”, where history hangs in the air, to the charming cobblestone alleys, there's a certain beauty about walking in a tutu! I’ve learnt a lot about myself through dance, about how it pushes you to explore beyond the box. It has a unique magic, letting you transform into an embodiment of art. Here in DarnĂ©tal, my experience in this whimsical city with its rich culture has taught me so much! The French attitude is so positive and passionate! The people are friendly, the city itself feels as though it is dancing on the breeze, just like the tutus we have on this beautiful #tututuesday. * Here’s what I'm doing today in DarnĂ©tal in my tutu. * *Taking photos around the “Place de l'HĂŽtel-de-Ville”. * Taking a stroll through “Parc de la Poterie”, to feel that beautiful mix of nature and architecture. * Lunch time - “Boulangerie de l’Avenue de Paris", the smells of fresh bread are heavenly and just add to this gorgeous atmosphere. And who knows? Maybe a spontaneous ballet in the park might just happen - just me and my tutus having a dance-off in the sunshine with the city's beautiful back drop - can’t beat that energy, can we! And yes, just as always I'm thinking of those in DarnĂ©tal, Normandy, who love dance and tutus, especially those with a connection to ballet - there's something very special about it in France, that takes the whole experience to another level! Until next time - keep twirling!
