Tutu Tuesday in Montlhéry, Île-de-France, France

G'day lovelies! It's Tutu Tuesday and this Aussie dancer is kicking things off with a whirl around the stunning city of Montlhéry, Île-de-France, France. It's been a dream of mine to experience the vibrant ballet scene in France and boy, is it delivering!

From the moment I landed, I was mesmerised by the architecture - the classic Parisian charm, the grand buildings, and the cobblestone streets that just whisper stories of bygone eras. I can imagine elegant ladies in billowing gowns strolling these same streets, and you just know some legendary ballet dancers must have sashayed their way down them, too.

Of course, no Tutu Tuesday is complete without some sartorial insights! Today's outfit? Well, I'm channeling my inner ballerina with a soft pink Romantic tutu, with delicate layers and a flowing, ethereal look. I reckon the layers evoke a feeling of freedom and artistry. And to top it off, a sparkling crop top – the perfect touch of French flair. I’ve definitely made an effort to dress up, because I believe it’s all about embracing the spirit of ballet, even on a regular Tuesday!

Now, for the ballet scene itself! Let me tell ya, there’s something truly magical about the Parisian ballet. There’s such an elegance and technical precision that takes my breath away. I spent the afternoon soaking in a performance at the incredible Théâtre de Montlhéry. You know when you just know the dancers are so incredibly in their element, it’s mesmerising? The movements were seamless, the emotion palpable, and the artistry simply exquisite! They took my breath away.

You know what else is a bit of a trip? Exploring the local dance schools in Montlhéry! From tiny studios tucked away in charming back alleys, to large academies buzzing with the energy of young dancers, I’m loving the variety. And it seems the love for ballet runs deep here - it's practically woven into the fabric of Montlhéry's cultural scene! The locals take pride in their traditions, which include a beautiful blend of classical techniques and contemporary styles.

Oh, and did I mention I had a chance to take a workshop? It was a class unlike any I’ve had back in Sydney - such an eye-opening experience! I’m getting a glimpse into a new approach, which makes it feel fresh, inspiring, and totally addictive!

One of my favorite parts of visiting a new city is delving into its historical sites and attractions. And here in Montlhéry, you can't miss the magnificent Montlhéry Castle. The sheer size of the castle leaves you speechless - it’s a monument to the region's rich history. I can just imagine elegant dancers waltzing through its grand halls in the days of yore! It’s a beautiful setting and adds another layer of history and artistic context to my Tutu Tuesday adventure!

The food? Simply sensational. You know the French are famous for their food and, to my delight, this includes ballet dancers! (Who doesn't love a great pastry?) One of my highlights? The scrumptious pastries! Every bakery here seems to have a tempting display of decadent cakes and macarons. And what better way to celebrate a day filled with artistry and elegance than with a sweet treat? Yum! The bakeries really feel like a reflection of Montlhéry's overall feel: elegant, timeless and with a real sweet tooth.

So there you have it, lovelies. Another epic Tutu Tuesday in the books. From swirling tutus to spectacular performances and delicious Parisian treats, this trip has been everything I dreamed it would be.
