Tutu Tuesday in Cappelle-la-Grande, Hauts-de-France, France - #tututuesday

G'day, darlings! It's your favourite Aussie ballerina, here, ready to bring some tutu-licious fun to your Tuesday. Today, I'm whisked away to the charming town of Cappelle-la-Grande in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Known for its history, canals, and a touch of old-world charm, Cappelle-la-Grande is the perfect setting for a #tututuesday extravaganza!

Stepping off the train, the air is crisp and a little nippy, but the moment I caught sight of the stunning brick buildings with their timber frames and the quaint shops lined along the canals, I knew I was in for a treat. And, well, I'm not talking about the delicious French pastries – although let's be honest, those are a definite bonus!

No, what I’m really excited about is exploring the ballet scene here in Cappelle-la-Grande! And, guess what? The locals absolutely love their ballet! They're keen to get involved in local classes, productions and the whole shebang, and they even have their very own local ballet company called *La Compagnie de la Grande Cap.* How's that for commitment? Now that’s what I call embracing the artistry!

My #tututuesday plans for the day include doing some window shopping and hunting down some seriously chic ballet supplies. A girl’s gotta have her dance essentials, right? But let's not get ahead of ourselves, let's start with some French fashion fun!

**So, first up: My Outfit.**

I opted for a simple, yet stylish look that I thought would be perfect for my French foray. And let’s be honest, it wouldn't be a #tututuesday adventure without a little tutu action, right? Today, I've gone for a romantic and elegant style, something with a touch of timeless grace and just a whisper of the French countryside.

I'm wearing a pale-pink satin skirt tutu. A full and voluminous tutu is a real statement piece, don't you think? And it makes any day a #tututuesday worthy one, for sure! Now, I know what you’re thinking – you can’t wear a tutu every day. Well, my dears, that's where we Aussies are super resourceful. And this little beauty is as comfortable as it gets - you'd be surprised. This tutu's been designed to be light and airy. No stiff layers of tulle or petticoats for this girl! You see, the secret lies in the subtle use of a light-weight mesh underlay. That keeps everything flowy and elegant while feeling totally comfortable to wear around the charming streets of Cappelle-la-Grande! It's the perfect balance of comfort and Parisian flair.

  • I'm pairing this pretty skirt with a classic white cotton shirt, but the best bit is I tucked it into the tutu for a real Parisian twist. No need for high-waisted trousers here, darlings, we’re all about the tutu-inspired femininity! And my gorgeous red blazer with its cute button detail? It brings just the right touch of elegance to complete the look! I couldn't resist a little bit of French sophistication, so I’ve added a wide-brimmed straw hat to complete this fabulous outfit, along with a chic white bag. My favourite bit? That touch of blush pink colour! It's a nod to the romantic French countryside. So stylish, so moi!
  • Now, let's talk about my shoes – what are those stylish shoes you’re looking at, you say? Ah, darlings, they’re these fabulous red heeled ballet flats – and you’re in for a treat here. It’s all about embracing the graceful spirit of ballet, but let's not forget that touch of fun! These shoes have an air of elegant mischief – I'm feeling daring! This red leather is soft and supple against my feet – and those comfortable suede soles let me move around this stunning city all day long – I’ve definitely got the staying power!
  • Now for the pièce de résistance: My hair! You can't wear a tutu without the right hair, so I'm opting for a messy French bun - yes you heard that right. I’m feeling natural and effortlessly chic here – a simple messy French bun will give my hair that touch of casual elegance! Not too fussy and a little romantic – a look perfect for the city streets!
  • To finish off the look, my delicate silver earrings are my little touch of extra glamour! But I’m keeping things natural. Minimal makeup – my French style mantra? The lighter, the better! So, I’m enhancing my natural beauty and keeping my makeup soft and radiant!

This #tututuesday style? It's the epitome of elegance, a celebration of femininity, and a touch of that Parisian mystique. It’s a fabulous ensemble to embrace a tutu Tuesday and to discover the city's charm. Just don’t let this city steal your heart - just yet anyway. That's a mission for another day!

Speaking of embracing that charm – you guys know that we can't do a #tututuesday tour without finding the local ballet stores. I want to find out if those talented dancers in Cappelle-la-Grande can find any fabulous leotards and tutus to bring that graceful ballerina flair. So, a bit of window-shopping is definitely on the agenda. And remember - if you are looking to grab a tutu or two - it is important to get the right fit. There are so many tutu styles out there:

  • Classic: This one is elegant, flowy, and with many layers. This is usually made from tulle, it gives a dancer that dramatic effect! But it's not for beginners! If you are looking for this style – think: Marie Antoinette and all that beauty! I love that French history connection.
  • Romantic Tutu: These are lighter and less dramatic than a Classic tutu - think swirling and fluttering with romantic softness! I think of beautiful ballerinas dancing in the mist and this tutu instantly makes me feel whimsical!
  • Pancake Tutu: These are fun and fabulous for modern dancers and can come in lots of different colors and fabric textures! And let’s be honest, a Pancake Tutu has a much lower hemline - giving dancers an edgy look! Think street dancing, lyrical contemporary… yes! There’s a fun tutu for everyone!
  • The American Tutu: If you want modern, athletic, and just a touch more flexibility – this tutu is it! This tutu doesn’t usually have a wire hoop! And the use of lighter fabrics make for incredible versatility - think about swirling, leaping and landing – what an amazing sensation!

So much for my outfit plans! Now it’s time for a little coffee stop! It’s almost lunchtime and you guys know how I love to refuel! So, it’s back to exploring the town of Cappelle-la-Grande in my tutu and my red heels!

You just wait – I'll tell you all about what I discover in my next blog post, darlings!
