Tutu Tuesday in Montaigu, Pays de la Loire, France #tututuesday
G'day, fashionistas! It's your girl, Amelia here, reporting live from the charming town of Montaigu in the Pays de la Loire region of France. This week's #tututuesday has me feeling like a true Parisian ballerina, gliding through cobblestone streets and soaking up the artistic vibes.
I landed in Montaigu last night after a whirlwind trip through the French countryside, and let me tell you, this place is brimming with a special kind of magic. Iāve already started to feel that *je ne sais quoi* that the French are known for, which of course makes everything more *magnifique*, especially when it comes to the arts. It seems everyone in Montaigu is deeply connected to the world of ballet, and the passion here is infectious.
French Flair for Tutu
The tutu game in Montaigu is seriously strong! It seems every little shop in town is brimming with tulle and lace, and Iām absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to my #tututuesday attire. I can't resist picking up a few classic French-style tutus to take home - a couple of ethereal white tutus for the traditional look, and a playful black one for some extra sass. I've already snapped some Insta-worthy shots in these beauties. And let's not forget the gorgeous French lace - this stuff is practically a national treasure! I'm adding some delicate lace trimmings to my vintage ballet shoes - they are simply perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to any #tututuesday outfit.
The Legacy of Ballet in Montaigu
This town has a long history of embracing the world of ballet. Apparently, Montaigu has been a centre for ballet education and performance for centuries. It's such a breath of fresh air to see so much history intertwined with such a lively and dynamic ballet scene today. Itās like walking through a time capsule of tutus and pirouettes. Even walking down the street, you can practically hear the music and the pitter-patter of dancersā feet!
The town itself has a rich architectural heritage with beautiful buildings and grand squares, making the perfect backdrop for ballet. Iāve been to a couple of impromptu dance performances outside these grand old buildings. And while my French is a little rusty, letās just say these ballet performances have spoken to my soul ā even with the language barrier, it's so easy to be swept away by the artistry and passion. I love the raw talent on display!
My Inspiration for the Day
Being in a town so infused with ballet culture, my #tututuesday is inspired by French elegance. Today, I've picked a beautiful pastel-pink tulle tutu from a tiny little shop I stumbled across near the main square. It's a delicate, romantic design that seems to be made for dancing amongst the vineyards and olive groves in the nearby countryside. The bodice is adorned with a little silver brooch, a perfect touch of bling! I've paired this beauty with my favourite pair of classic, flat ballerina shoes - because comfort is key, even for #tututuesday.
Finding My Inner French Ballerina
Stepping out into the warm French sun with my tutu twirling, I feel like I'm channelling a mix of Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot. And just like a French ballet dancer, I'm taking the time to savor this magical experience. There's something so utterly intoxicating about strolling down cobbled streets, catching the gaze of the locals and exchanging a playful wink, knowing I'm embodying that timeless ballerina chic.
Where to Get Your Tutu Fix in Montaigu
Now, Iād be remiss if I didn't give you a little insiderās scoop on the best places in town to indulge your #tututuesday obsession. First up, we've got āL'Atelier de la Danseā - itās the biggest and oldest dance studio in town and definitely worth a visit. This charming little studio has a whole treasure trove of tutus and dance accessories that are sure to make you say *ooh la la!* The owners are incredibly friendly and will offer advice and share their expertise about the local ballet scene.
Then, of course, we have āLe MarchĆ© du Centre.ā This lively outdoor market happens every Tuesday and Thursday, and itās where I snagged my latest pastel-pink tulle tutu for the day. The market is overflowing with all things vintage, from clothes to jewellery, so youāre guaranteed to find a tutu to suit your style - no matter if you're a minimalist or a maximalist when it comes to your tutus.
My French Tutu Adventures to Continue
Honestly, Montaigu has totally captivated my heart. This small French town with a big personality is exactly where I needed to be for this week's #tututuesday. Iāve fallen head over heels for the vibrant ballet culture here, and Iām so grateful to have stumbled upon this little slice of French paradise. Iām excited to keep exploring the region, soak up all the charm, and maybe even catch a ballet performance in the townās iconic theatre, Le Grand Theatre de Montaigu. Until next time, mon amis! Keep your eyes peeled for more adventures from your Aussie ballerina - coming soon, from Paris and beyond!
