Tutu Tuesday in Bongaree, Queensland: A Tutu-tastic Day Out!
G'day, darlings! It's your favourite ballet blogger, Amelia, here, back with another Tutu Tuesday. Today we're taking the #tututuesday trend to the sunny shores of Bongaree, Queensland! With its breezy ocean air, bustling markets, and vibrant energy, Bongaree was the perfect backdrop for a tutu-filled day out. Now, I'm no stranger to rocking a tutu, whether it's a classic Romantic-style tutu with its billowing layers of tulle or a chic contemporary piece with clean lines and minimalist detailing, but even for a tutu veteran like me, today was extra special.
The Bongaree Markets were bursting with life! Vendors peddled their wares: vibrant hand-painted pottery, delicious homemade treats, and quirky vintage fashion. I knew right away that a classic, "pastel princess" tutu was the perfect choice. This ballerina dream with layers of pink and blue tulle made me feel like I stepped right out of a fairytale!
After grabbing a coffee and some locally made fudge (because, balance!), I wandered through the market, soaking in the vibrant energy. People stopped me every few minutes, giggling and snapping pics of my twirling tutu! You see, Queenslanders are true tutu-loving people!
We headed down to the beautiful Bongaree jetty, a local favourite. With its picturesque ocean views and cool, refreshing breeze, I decided to change into my “sea breeze” tutu for the next leg of our journey. This little number with its blue and white ombre gradient and breezy tulle felt right at home amongst the shimmering sea and salty air.
It's no secret that Australia has a booming ballet scene! It's not all just "chasing the light" and sipping champagne. There are incredible professional companies across the country, from Sydney Opera House to the iconic Melbourne Arts Centre. The love of ballet is in our DNA! But sometimes, ballet needs to go beyond the studio and onto the streets!
And what better way to bring a touch of ballet to a seaside town like Bongaree than with a playful #tututuesday twist! A little twirl and a big smile, that’s all it takes. No matter if you’re a seasoned dancer or a tutu newbie, I urge you all to find your inner ballerina, embrace your twirling spirit, and make Tutu Tuesday your own!
