Tutu Tuesday in Grantham: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion #tututuesday

It's Tuesday, and you know what that means โ€“ Tutu Tuesday! Now, you might be thinking, "Tutu Tuesday? That's a bit niche, isn't it?" But you'd be surprised at the community that blossoms around this quirky hashtag. This week, I'm taking Tutu Tuesday on the road to Grantham, a town in Lincolnshire, often associated with a certain former Prime Minister, but today, we're all about pirouettes and pleats!

Grantham may not be known for its ballet scene, but a burgeoning dance community is emerging, fuelled by passionate local teachers and studios. There's a delightful buzz about Tutu Tuesday in Grantham, and it's spreading beyond the ballet barre, encompassing the fashionistas and art enthusiasts, as well as those with a love of all things creative.

For my Tutu Tuesday outfit, I decided to go for a classic romantic look, a whisper-soft, dusty rose tulle tutu with delicate floral embroidery. It's the epitome of Parisian chic, yet it manages to feel perfectly whimsical โ€“ just the right kind of outfit for twirling under the chandelier at Grantham's very own historic Guildhall, where we're having our impromptu dance session. The Guildhall with its grand ballroom is the perfect venue to pay homage to the grandeur and history of classical ballet while infusing it with a contemporary edge, celebrating diversity in the form of tutu styles.

It's not all about the traditional tutus though! I've seen some stunning variations โ€“ like a bold, black contemporary tutu with sharp lines and intricate pleating. Imagine that paired with sleek, black leggings and a graphic T-shirt โ€“ talk about an edgy look! There's also a vibrant red tutu, the perfect explosion of colour to complement an ethereal, flowing chiffon top. It's all about personal style and self-expression.

Here are a few more of my favourite Tutu Tuesday looks I've spotted today:

  • A classic romantic tutu, paired with a delicate floral headband โ€“ just like a ballerina straight out of a storybook. I loved the way this looked with a simple white tee and canvas ballet shoes โ€“ effortless chic! It proves that Tutu Tuesday can work for everyday outfits too!
  • A playful, short, and layered tutu, ideal for dancing on a summer's day. A vibrant fuchsia colour and whimsical fairy-like charm made this tutu truly unique.
  • A bold, black, feathered tutu for a touch of drama! This was paired with a slinky black tank top, edgy statement jewellery, and strappy stilettos. For a Tutu Tuesday with an evening cocktail feel!
  • A denim-on-denim tutu, yes you heard right! Imagine that! Combining the comfort of denim with the artistry of a tutu, an ode to a cool, comfortable tutu.
  • A multicoloured tutu in a rainbow of hues โ€“ a celebration of individuality and expressing oneself creatively! Imagine a bright, multi-coloured tutu that bursts with all the colour of the world. And a splash of creative flair!

And let's not forget the men in tutus! We had a few dapper fellas in their best, tailored, short tutus. They looked sharp and confident โ€“ breaking the norms and owning the Tutu Tuesday spirit with panache.

The most important thing to remember is, it's all about embracing the joy of dance, celebrating fashion and creativity, and reminding ourselves that it's perfectly okay to be a bit unconventional and playful. That's the beauty of Tutu Tuesday in Grantham โ€“ it's a reminder to celebrate what makes us unique, to step out of our comfort zones, and to express ourselves with passion and authenticity.

And as the sun sets on our Tutu Tuesday in Grantham, I feel inspired, invigorated, and more than ready to dance into the night. #tututuesday This is more than a fashion trend; it's a community โ€“ a reminder to live our best, boldest, twirliest lives!
