Tutu Tuesday in Bega, New South Wales: A Whirlwind of Tutus and Tutu-rious Times

G'day, lovelies! It's your gal, Tilly here, and today is a very special day. Not just any day, but Tutu Tuesday! Here in Bega, New South Wales, the tutu scene is poppin' off like a pirouette on a hot summer's day. And it's all thanks to the incredible hashtag #tututuesday, which has turned Tuesday into the most fabulous day of the week.

I've always loved tutus. As a ballet dancer, I grew up in the midst of tutus - from the traditional, romantic, fluffy ones with the classic layers, to the more contemporary, minimalist ones, with bold colours and shapes. They're like a little piece of magic, every one, you know? And, they're always good for a laugh – who doesn't love a little bit of tulle and fluff in their lives?

Tutu Tuesday is really about celebrating that joy and celebrating our community. What I love about it, though, is the amazing diversity we're seeing! People in Bega have embraced it big-time, each with their own take on the tutu:

  • The "I'm just here for the snacks" group – their tutus might be less about the actual dance and more about the cake at the local cafe.
  • The "Tutus on Tootsies" gang – these legends have actually rocked up to work in their tutus!
  • The "Let's get a photo with our besties" clique – their tutus have given us some seriously epic group photos.
  • The "It's a Tutu kind of day" pack – they wear their tutus proudly, rocking all kinds of colours and lengths. It’s their statement, their “day to be bold”, which is pretty great.

This #tututuesday thing has really gotten people out there and moving – in ways you wouldn't imagine! We're not just about ballet here. We've had kids showing off their tutus, dads taking on the role of tutu protector, even our Mayor popped in a tutu!

What I’ve also loved is seeing people embrace their own creativity. It's not just about wearing a tutu; it's about having a laugh and getting into the spirit of things. I saw someone in a tutu with a rainbow flag, another with a sign that said "Support our local dancers" - all of it just makes my heart happy.

There is also a lot of talk in Bega about getting a ballet studio up and running here in town. Bega, like most regional towns, has seen a bit of a dance resurgence. And a ballet studio would be a perfect place for all these tutues to shine and to nurture our next generation of dancers, you know?

I truly believe that Tutu Tuesday isn’t just a fashion trend, it's about community. And in a town like Bega, where everyone knows everyone, community is everything. We need more #tututuesday energy! We need more laughter and joy.

So, whether you are a dancer, a non-dancer, or a person who just loves to smile, embrace the tutu life! It's the best. Tutus and #tututuesday - we can all agree, they make the world a better place, one twirl at a time.

Stay sassy, stay fabulous, and happy #tututuesday from Bega, NSW!
