Tutu Tuesday in Numurkah, Victoria: A Dance Down Memory Lane #tututuesday Hey darlings, It’s your girl, Mia, back with another instalment of #tututuesday and oh boy, this week’s adventures have taken me back to my dance roots in the most fabulous way! This time, it’s all about Tutu Tuesday in the charming town of Numurkah, Victoria. If you're a dancer like me, or even just a lover of all things twirly and whimsical, you know a tutu is more than just a piece of clothing; it’s a symbol of creativity, passion, and sheer joy! Numurkah: A Ballet Hotspot Who knew that this adorable country town would become a hotbed of ballet? Numurkah has always held a special place in my heart - you see, my Nanna and Pop live here, so I've spent many happy childhood holidays exploring its quaint streets. So, imagine my surprise when I heard about their annual Tutu Tuesday festival! Apparently, Numurkah has been rocking this event for a couple of years now. They've been turning this gorgeous little town into a kaleidoscope of tulle and dancing dreams! Tutu Tuesday - Not Your Average Street Party What exactly goes down at Numurkah’s Tutu Tuesday? Well, the locals sure know how to celebrate. From the morning right through to dusk, the entire town goes bonkers for tutus! Imagine a colourful explosion of ballet, complete with live music, outdoor workshops, pop-up dance performances, and, of course, a glorious parade showcasing the most dazzling, unique, and frankly hilarious tutus you've ever seen! Every year, the competition gets more fierce – and frankly more fab! – as people really push the boundaries of their tutu creativity. Numurkah: A Parade of Colourful Creations One of my absolute highlights was the Tutu Parade! The vibrant energy was just infectious! Picture this – the whole main street buzzing with life, all eyes glued to a parade of tutu-clad individuals strutting their stuff to a rocking soundtrack. It’s just a beautiful mess of movement and music that fills you with the sheer joy of dancing. I spotted some seriously stunning tutus – classic Romantic ballerinas in shimmering pale pinks, daring avant-garde interpretations using fabric like silk, chiffon and even repurposed materials like denim and lace! It was all a big thumbs up for creative expression, with even the locals taking part in a way that truly embodied the spirit of community. Let’s Talk Tutu Trends Now, the world of tutus is truly a wonderland, and there’s a tutu for everyone! On this particular Tuesday, I saw a plethora of unique creations and some clear trendsetters, some worth taking a peek at, I’d say! * **The Romantic Swan Lake:** The classic single-layered tutu, that is almost a symbol of ballet in itself! It’s the quintessential "Swan Lake" look: light, airy, and timeless, which looks exquisite in pale pinks, blush hues, and pearlescent shades. * **The Showstopping, Super-layered, Big and Bold:** Think, dramatic multiple layers, flowing skirts with loads of tulle and netting, cascading all around you! This dramatic look is perfect for making a statement! And guess what? I spotted some with funky little accessories, some bright colours and others even with some neon pops of colour! Ballet in Australia: Taking Root Across the Country It was so much fun to witness all these amazing displays of creativity. It reminded me why I love this country. Aussies are so unique – they have such a playful, joyful spirit! The way Numurkah embraced its annual Tutu Tuesday celebration reminded me that passion for ballet and dance isn't just restricted to big city theatres! There is a real wave of community ballet initiatives taking place all over the country, and events like Tutu Tuesday highlight that it’s truly something worth getting excited about. **Numurkah: A Community Celebrating Dance!** Numurkah truly deserves a standing ovation for this brilliant Tutu Tuesday festival – the locals really poured their hearts and souls into it! They celebrated their love of ballet and had so much fun doing it, showing just how important it is to embrace every opportunity to bring art into our lives. The community’s contagious enthusiasm left a real smile on my face and a warm, happy glow inside me. Until next time, darlings! Keep twirling! Love, Mia #tututuesday #numurkahvictoria
