Tutu Tuesday in Curl Curl, New South Wales: A Tutu Tale from the Northern Beaches #tututuesday It's a glorious Tuesday morning here on the Northern Beaches, and the sun is shining, just like my new tutu! Today, it's Tutu Tuesday, and I'm ready to spread some Tutu-tastic joy. It's all thanks to the wonderful #tututuesday movement - this weekly ritual of putting on a tutu for a little fun and inspiration, started somewhere out there in the social media cosmos, but its caught on in a big way. It's basically the perfect excuse to tap into your inner ballerina, regardless of whether you've ever had a ballet class in your life (though I strongly recommend trying one, it's heaps of fun!), or how many twirls you've got left in the tank. But let's talk tutu, shall we? This Tuesday's number is a dreamboat - a floaty, gossamer thing, with layers of tulle that just dance in the breeze. It’s got a delicate floral print, which is perfect for these warmer days. It's giving me strong "summer fairy" vibes, and you can bet I'm going to channel my inner Sugar Plum Fairy and twirl my way around the local shops. Tutu Time Capsule My obsession with tutus began with childhood dreams. Every girl dreams of being a ballerina at some point in their life. That magic is still there, whether you’re on stage or dancing around the lounge room in your pajamas. I’ve even been lucky enough to spend years performing ballet, both with local studios here in Curl Curl and on stage with some pretty awesome Sydney companies. We'd rehearse at the old studios in Sydney CBD - always amazing and inspiring. But as I got older, I kinda forgot about the magic of tutus. That's the thing with adulthood - it’s a whirlwind of responsibilities and chores, and it’s so easy to let the inner-child’s creativity fade away. That’s where #tututuesday comes in, as a way of getting in touch with that fun-loving child in us all! It reminds me why I love ballet so much - the power, the grace, and that pure joy of moving to music. Curl Curl Couture Now, where else in Australia would be a better place for a tutu pilgrimage than here on the Northern Beaches, specifically, Curl Curl, the heart of the dance community! Curl Curl has been home to some incredible ballet studios for decades, like the Curl Curl Ballet School which have helped shape and nurture the dreams of countless dancers like me. It’s been inspiring to see how these schools have kept the love of dance alive, passing on the passion from generation to generation. It’s definitely helped with this town's reputation as the epicenter for ballet on the North Shore. And you know what? Curl Curl is pretty awesome when it comes to outfits. Seriously, I could get lost in these cute boutiques and independent shops all day. The other day, I stumbled upon a small but awesome vintage clothing shop where I found a fab vintage tutu from the 1980s. It's a total statement piece, with loads of tulle and a bold colour - a stunning fuchsia. And you know what? That vintage tutu is the perfect conversation starter. There’s nothing quite like a well-worn and well-loved piece of fabric, which just speaks of years of fun and creativity. From the Studio to the Streets This whole Tutu Tuesday thing is also a way to bring a little bit of ballet out of the studios and into the world. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing like spending a couple of hours in a studio, getting lost in a pirouette, and feeling those beautiful, graceful movements. But sometimes, you just wanna shake things up and take the tutu on the road. And don’t even get me started on the whole Tutu trend. Tutus have gone from something you only see in the ballet to a wardrobe essential! Seriously, I've spotted tutus everywhere - from red carpets to street style, even at festivals and gigs! A World of Tutu Let's get real - the beauty of tutus lies in their endless possibilities! There’s a tutu style for every mood, for every occasion, and for every type of person. You wanna go full ballerina, with a classic, elegant, long tutus? Totally your call! Maybe you’re in the mood for a bit of playfulness with a cute little tutu with a splash of colour or funky design. Go for it! And how about rocking those fierce short, or even a multi-tiered layered tutu. Or even that romantic flowy romantic style, there's something magical about the way a tutu moves. There's no judgement. There's only twirling and smiles. Tutu Time: It's More than a Trend, It's a Movement Tutu Tuesday has definitely become more than just a hashtag for me - it’s a reminder to embrace my inner child and have a bit of fun! If there's something to celebrate in this world, then it's our own creativity and joy of movement. So, rock that tutu, be a little bit silly, and don't be afraid to let your inner ballerina shine. It’s all about finding that fun, spontaneous side of ourselves and taking it for a twirl!
