Sussex Inlet, NSW: Tutu Tuesday Takes Flight

Hey beautiful dancers and fashionistas! It’s your girl, Chloe here, bringing you the latest from the world of ballet and style, straight from the sunny shores of Sussex Inlet.

Today’s the day! It’s #TutuTuesday, and you know what that means - it’s time to embrace our inner prima ballerina, and twirl into the week in our best tutus! I'm talking frilly romantic tutus, sleek modern ones, even the occasional whimsical tutu - let's be honest, who doesn't love a bit of tulle in their life?

Let’s face it, tutu’s are a little bit like fashion in the world of ballet. There's a whole history of evolution to consider and we see the trends changing year after year in every company across the globe. We saw the Romantic tutu popular in the late 1800s and we know its still making waves today and we can still catch the Classical tutu shining brightly on the world’s most famous stages, like the Australian Ballet in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane - don't even get me started on the fabulous tutu worn by the dancers in their upcoming Swan Lake! - Oh, it’s giving tututu perfection!

It’s really fun to look at all the amazing tutus we have in our little corner of Australia, Sussex Inlet is buzzing and it's certainly inspiring me to get my tutu out, pop on a pretty pair of shoes and dance into the afternoon - let’s face it it's #Tututuesday what else would we do? I even bought a bright yellow one from the market today I'll probably get a lot of weird looks if I wear it out, but who cares right, it's fun!

Anyway, if you’re looking for an extra bit of sparkle for #Tututuesday, here’s some tips for you! You know I've got you, doll!

  • Embrace the Volume – Tutus are about volume, that beautiful voluminous feeling of swirling fabric – it’s practically guaranteed to make you feel confident. It’s like the ultimate way to turn heads when you’re out and about.
  • Find Your Perfect Colour – Tutu colours can be anything you want, so embrace what suits your style and personality. We’re in the throes of Spring, so the bright colours are out there, baby - make some colour pop!
  • Show it off on Social – You guys know this is the perfect excuse for a social media post – especially on Instagram! Tag #Tututuesday, maybe throw in some ballet poses for your photos (If you are confident you could do some arabesque’s in a local park!)
  • Accessorize – The possibilities here are endless – what better excuse to embrace headbands and necklaces!
  • Keep it Real - Don’t think you need to be a ballerina to join the fun, even if your not technically a dancer you can join in, and keep that tutu game real because at the end of the day it's about embracing what we love.
