Tutu Tuesday in Morisset, New South Wales: A Celebration of Ballet and Whimsy #tututuesday

Hey gorgeous, it's your favourite tutu-loving ballerina, Ellie, here, and you know what that means! It's #Tututuesday, and I'm so excited to share with you what I've been up to this week! It's been a whirlwind of rehearsals, classes, and – most importantly – finding some new tulle treasures.

This week's #Tututuesday has me feeling particularly inspired. I had a chance to explore Morisset, a beautiful coastal town about an hour north of Sydney. With its stunning beaches and laid-back vibes, it’s no surprise that Morisset has a strong artistic heart. The locals here definitely appreciate a little whimsy, and their love for all things tutu is as vibrant as the colours that splashed across the harbour in the late afternoon light.

You guys know I’m a bit of a tutu aficionado, and let me tell you, I was in absolute heaven exploring the shops and markets in Morisset. The vintage tutu selection was top-notch – from fluffy, frothy 1950s tulle to some seriously stylish, more modern pieces.

There were some serious statement makers:

  • A vibrant, emerald green tutu with layers of fluffy, iridescent tulle. It practically screamed, “Look at me! Look at me!” and I swear it almost danced its way off the rack.
  • A stunning, deep navy blue tutu with silver sequins. So chic! It looked like something right out of a classical ballet performance, and I'd definitely be a graceful swan in it.

And then, some seriously sweet, wearable ones, perfect for casual outings and impromptu performances.

  • A delicate pink tutu, perfect for a picnic in the park. (Seriously, you need to bring a tutu to your next picnic!).
  • A playful, pastel yellow tutu with adorable ruffles. Just picture me pirouetting down the beach, enjoying the cool breeze!

I scored a gorgeous vintage tutu for myself that was definitely calling my name. It was a classic ballet style with layers of soft white tulle. I envisioned myself swirling on stage, and, trust me, the dream is now coming true! It was just calling to be worn and twirled around a rehearsal room – and maybe out on the weekend too, if I’m feeling bold.

Talking about rehearsals… it's a whirlwind! But, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Right now, we’re rehearsing for an exciting new performance by the local ballet company. Our production, “Sea to Sky”, celebrates the beauty and dynamism of the Australian landscape. Think rolling hills, crystal clear waters, and oh-so-many passionate dancers with hearts bursting with stories. The costumes are incredible – we've got everything from shimmering metallic tutus for the ‘City Lights’ segment, to simple, flowy tutus in shades of turquoise and ochre for the ‘Sea’ section.

One thing's for sure: #Tututuesday isn’t just about twirling. It's about unleashing our inner artistry, whether that's on the stage, in our own creative endeavors, or just simply making life a bit more fun. There's a freedom and magic that comes with wearing a tutu. It reminds us to move, to play, to express ourselves. That’s something Morisset embraces wholeheartedly, just like I do!

Speaking of moving… I have some awesome ideas for the rest of my day:

  • I’m thinking a quick barre session at the beach – tutu, of course, because why not?
  • And a trip to the local market to find some delicious local produce.
  • Maybe a spontaneous ballet flash mob in the heart of town to surprise people. (They will LOVE it! Think happy-dance and joyful pirouettes – can't wait for their faces!)

Keep an eye on my Instagram and my blog for the most stylish tutus around, all inspired by the magic of ballet and this incredible coastal town. I can’t wait to share the journey with you!

Stay twirling and radiant,

Ellie
