Tutu Tuesday in Merredin, Western Australia - #tututuesday G’day, darlings! Your favourite tutu-loving blogger is back, ready to whisk you away on a whirl-wind tour of Merredin, Western Australia, for a Tutu Tuesday extravaganza. Merredin is a charming little town in the wheatbelt, known for its warm hospitality and, of course, its stunning sunsets. But this Tuesday, it was all about the tutus! As soon as I arrived, I knew I was in the right place. The energy was buzzing. It wasn't just the heat – although, trust me, it was scorching. The whole town was abuzz with anticipation for the biggest Tutu Tuesday event in WA history! I had the absolute pleasure of being invited to judge the Merredin Tutu competition. And let me tell you, those contestants were a real sight. They had tutus of all shapes and sizes: classic romantic tutus in delicate tulle, vibrant tutus in bold colours, even a couple of cheeky "punk rock" tutus complete with studded belts. There was even a magnificent "disco" tutu, a shimmering kaleidoscope of sparkles and metallics, that nearly brought the house down! We had so many amazing entries, from kids with adorable tiny tutus to older ladies rocking their fabulous dancewear. The enthusiasm was infectious! There was also a live auction of hand-sewn tutus created by local talents. I nearly fainted when one of the gorgeous, custom-designed tutu gowns with intricate embroidery fetched over $500. Imagine, the perfect tutu, straight out of the workshop and into your closet. What a dream! While the competition was the highlight, the entire day was a spectacle of colourful fun. There were street performances by local ballet schools (a highlight was a heartwarming performance by a group of little kids in fluffy, pastel tutus!), face painting, tutu-themed stalls, and a delicious "Tutu-tastic" buffet. Merredin definitely delivered the goods. I'm talking Tutu Tuesday magic, folks! You see, in Australia, tutu is not just about the classical ballet. It’s an attitude. It’s about the joy of movement, the feeling of freedom. You can rock a tutu for a costume party, for a dance recital, or even for a regular day in the park – it’s all about being yourself, owning the stage, and enjoying life. After such a fantastic day, I'm already looking forward to next year's Tutu Tuesday in Merredin. Who knows, maybe I'll even participate in the competition next time. Maybe I’ll take my inspiration from the "punk rock" tutus this time. **Here are a few key takeaways from my unforgettable Tutu Tuesday in Merredin, WA:** * Merredin's Tutu Tuesday is a joyous event that celebrates community spirit and the transformative power of tutus. * There were stunning tutu designs on show, from classic romantic styles to vibrant, avant-garde designs. * Tutus are for everyone! * The event is a fantastic way to explore Merredin and appreciate its charm.
