It's been a while since we've been able to put on a proper show in our beloved Aussie shores. Let's face it, we've all missed that feeling of pure joy that comes with leaping, pirouetting, and twirling across the stage in a beautifully-crafted tutu. So, it's with extra excitement that I share my recent adventure to the beautiful coastal town of Evans Head in New South Wales.
Evans Head - Where the Beach Meets the Ballet
For me, Evans Head holds a special place in my heart. It's a town that knows how to embrace its natural beauty. You've got the glistening blue of the ocean on one side and lush greenery and whispering rainforest on the other. What more could a dancer ask for, right?
The Power of the Tutu
There's no denying that a tutu has a powerful effect. They're a statement piece, not just on stage but off too. In Evans Head, we went for a more relaxed look, a far cry from the structured strictness of a traditional tutu. We opted for a more whimsical approach with **floaty chiffon and soft tulle layered generously with ruffles. This style embraces a sense of effortless elegance – ideal for a day spent enjoying the local beach. Think of a classic Victorian silhouette but with a hint of boho flair. It’s romantic and a little whimsical and completely suits the seaside ambience of this amazing Aussie town.

And of course, there's a reason we celebrate Tutu Tuesdays - to make life a little more fun! There was nothing more delightful than taking these breezy tutus to the sandy shores of Evans Head and making memories we'll always treasure. Think sunshine, salty air, laughter, and maybe a little bit of graceful dancing on the sand – yep, it was glorious!
Tutu Styles
- The Classic Tutu - Think full and fluffy - these were more for a special event and didn't see the light of day at Evans Head.
- The Romantic Tutu - Like a gentle whisper of dreaminess. With soft flowing fabrics in layers and a touch of bohemian styling.
- The Edgy Tutu- Think short layers in textured fabrics paired with a graphic black top and some leather accessories, definitely a rock-chic ballerina aesthetic that was fun but not quite my vibe in Evans Head.
Making Tutu Tuesday an Aussie Celebration
The best part? Seeing locals join in. People of all ages, from children to those with decades of life under their belt, felt free to embrace their inner ballerina and twirl around! It reminded me that there's magic in ballet, no matter where you are.
