For those who don't know, Tutu Tuesday is a global movement celebrating the iconic garment of ballet, and in Smithton, it's quickly become a weekly highlight. Today, I'm feeling the spirit of #tututuesday with my favourite tutu. It's a classic Romantic tutu ā€“ the kind with multiple layers of tulle, the classic poufy look ā€“ in a vibrant blush pink, a real statement piece that captures the delicate beauty and graceful movement of ballet. Now, you might be thinking, "Ballet in Smithton, Tasmania? What's there to see?". Well, let me tell you, this tiny town boasts a vibrant dance community, brimming with passion. You see, for us, itā€™s more than just the moves; itā€™s about a passion that unites us and celebrates the artistry of ballet. And tutu's play an integral role in capturing that passion. Today, I want to delve into the unique charm of Tutu Tuesday here. I mean, you just canā€™t beat it. This town comes alive with a burst of colour as tutus are seen everywhere, on mums, kids, grannies, and even a few blokes sporting them with aplomb! * Itā€™s all about fun, and this Tutu Tuesday, I witnessed an epic tutu dance party happening at the Smithton farmers market. Kids twirling and spinning to the tune of "Dancing Queen" by ABBA, their little legs kicked high in the air, radiating pure joy and the joy of movement. Itā€™s truly heartwarming. * Smithtonā€™s local cafĆ©s even hopped on board by offering up special tutu-themed drinks like the "Pink PliĆ© Latte", a stunning blend of pink milk, beetroot powder, and a touch of vanilla syrup. Talk about ballet inspiration in a cup! Let's get into the details of the various tutu styles. Here, the most common one seems to be the classical Romantic tutu ā€“ as you saw earlier, mine is in blush pink but Iā€™ve seen them in all sorts of colours, even the occasional black tutu with a dash of glitter for a touch of drama! Then, there are the playful ā€œballerina" tutu ā€“ shorter in length, these are generally more whimsical. These are often seen on the younger set, just getting their first taste of dancing on their tippy-toes. Finally, you have the traditional ā€œRussianā€ or "classicā€ tutu. These are typically quite long, a symbol of pure elegance and the grandness of classical ballet. Tutu Tuesday in Smithton has brought together a sense of community, and it is beautiful to see people from all walks of life embracing this shared love for dance. Whether you are a veteran ballerina or just starting out, itā€™s the perfect time to celebrate your love for ballet and get creative with your tutu style. What tutu are you rocking today, my fellow dancers? Be sure to snap a photo and use #tututuesday so I can check out your fabulousness!
