Tutu Tuesday in Andergrove, Queensland

G'day lovelies! It's Tutu Tuesday and I'm so excited to be back with you all, sharing my passion for ballet and fashion. You might be wondering - "What exactly is Tutu Tuesday?," you ask? Well, I'm not a *formal* news reporter. I'm a dancer with a blog. Here, in my little corner of the internet, it's an excuse to embrace the magic of the tutu – and I’ve got a feeling this is gonna be a good one!

So let's dive into the world of tutus. I mean, seriously, who doesn't love the sheer elegance and joy of twirling in a tutu?

This week I was inspired by the recent Royal Queensland Ballet performance. And no surprise - those girls looked absolutely spectacular! The sheer volume and the drama, not to mention all the glitter, it was like a *fashion* statement more than a ballet costume. And let's be honest, the romanticism of it, it really gets me going!

But back to the topic at hand. If you are anything like me, your tutu game is probably on point - but we always love some fresh inspiration, right?

Okay, here’s the dealio!

I wanted to explore the different styles and the incredible diversity within this fabulous category!

Firstly, you've got the classic "Romantic" tutu. It's like something out of a fairytale with the tiered layers, all so fluffy. Imagine *Swan Lake*... you've got the "Romantic tutu" on, so gorgeous. Then you’ve got the "Romantic" tutu's cousin the "Tutu à la Française". Similar but made of finer netting, it’s quite a delicate and intricate masterpiece. I know this one's got the ballet purists all drooling – a serious piece of history!

Next up, you’ve got your “classical” tutu. A short tutu with lots of layers made from horsehair or, these days more commonly, synthetic versions – with layers upon layers. They add this wonderful lift to the dress. There is nothing like it to emphasize those classic ballet moves and turns. So much drama!

But there are tutus out there that push the boundaries. There’s the “Tutu a la Francaise" – super delicate! You'll notice these in ballet where the movement is a lot more grounded and earthy, like Giselle - it's just beautifully ethereal.

Now the tutu of all tutus, in my humble opinion, the “bell” tutu. That shape with the layers of fabric spreading out – just sensational! I think it’s one of the most stunning and elegant designs, but this one does demand serious dedication.

We're not forgetting about the contemporary dancers. The "Contemporary tutu". Let’s call it the rebellious child! I’m always drawn to the creativity and flexibility they incorporate. And sometimes they'll throw a tutu in – just for fun! It’s so cool.

Tutus can be just a big ol’ pile of layers with no sense of style – or a beautiful reflection of character. Every detail, the fabric, the shape, the color tells us a story! This is what makes Tutu Tuesday a true delight – because we can play around with different ideas. If you’re new to the ballet world - just think how much more magic it’s about to offer up!

This is your chance to try out some ideas you've been dreaming about. Who knows? You might just spark your creativity and the creativity of others. If you feel inspired, be sure to share it with your dance crew and fellow tutu lovers using the hashtag #tututuesday – just don’t forget to tag my blog too!

So, my little loves, I hope you've been inspired to put on your tutu and twirl your heart out!

Until next time!
