Tutu Tuesday in Millgrove, Victoria: A Tutu Tale for the Ages

G’day, fashionistas and fellow twirlers! It’s your girl, Chloe, back with another Tutu Tuesday blog post. Today, we’re taking a little trip out of the big smoke and heading to the charming town of Millgrove in Victoria.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: Millgrove? What’s there to do? But let me tell you, this little town has more than its fair share of charm and a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ that's perfect for a tutu-filled adventure.

First things first, let’s talk about the tutus. As you all know, a Tutu Tuesday wouldn’t be complete without a fabulous outfit, and today I’m sporting a classic Romantic tutu. It’s all layers of tulle, perfectly pleated and flowing, in a dreamy shade of baby blue. The fabric is so soft and ethereal – it’s basically like wearing a cloud! The look is both elegant and playful, which is just my style. I added a pop of colour with a vibrant red ballet cardigan and paired it with my favourite pair of ballet flats, just because sometimes, you need that classic ballet touch.

We arrived in Millgrove just in time for the town’s annual spring festival, and the vibe was totally electric. There were colourful stalls filled with handmade goods, delicious food trucks, and live music that had everyone dancing in the street. The whole town seemed to be buzzing with good energy. Of course, there had to be some tutu action – there’s nothing I love more than spreading the Tutu Tuesday love wherever I go! So I took my little impromptu photoshoot amongst the charming cafes and boutiques, which felt like a scene out of a fairy tale!

While we were there, we stopped for lunch at a super cute cafe called “The Whimsical Whisk,” and trust me, the name is not deceiving. The food was amazing (hello, decadent almond croissant) and the cafe’s vintage dĂ©cor perfectly matched my Tutu Tuesday mood. Seriously, there were fairy lights strung up everywhere, antique furniture and vintage records playing in the background - it felt like I was stepping back in time.

Millgrove is all about those little things that make life special. And while we’re talking about special, Millgrove has one of the best kept secrets for tutu enthusiasts - it’s the home of “The Dance Academy,” where some of the most amazing young dancers in Australia have begun their careers. They have a unique blend of classical ballet, contemporary dance and jazz styles, all of which require very distinct tutu styles, from traditional Romantic tutus to modern tutus designed for contemporary choreography, the Academy knows its tutus!

I’ll admit, my initial visit to Millgrove was inspired by my love of all things Tutu, but the place itself has totally stolen my heart. This little town oozes character and it’s bursting with charm.

My top tips for a Tutu Tuesday adventure in Millgrove are:

  • Definitely grab a coffee at “The Whimsical Whisk,” they’re known for their frothy coffees and delicious pastries. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you.
  • Get your shopping on. Millgrove is known for its quirky, handmade goods – and it's always great to discover a local, one-of-a-kind piece to add to your Tutu Tuesday wardrobe!
  • Catch a performance at “The Dance Academy” – and let me tell you, these young ballerinas have some serious moves! Don't forget to check the schedule for the Academy’s end-of-year performance and see the newest collection of tutus in action!
