Tutu Tuesday in Yarragon, Victoria: A Whirlwind of Tulle and Twirls

Hey lovelies! It’s your girl, Olivia, back with another post from the world of ballet and, you guessed it, a Tutu Tuesday special! Today, we're hitting the streets (and yes, the parks and cafes) of Yarragon, Victoria, a beautiful little town nestled in the heart of Gippsland, for a tutu-tastic adventure.

Tutu Tuesday – if you haven’t heard of this little online movement – is basically the greatest thing since the invention of the pointe shoe! Each week, dancers (and tutu lovers like myself) around the world embrace their inner ballerinas by donning their most fabulous tulle creations and hitting the streets, or, you know, just dancing around their living rooms. And let me tell you, there's something truly magical about the way a tutu can instantly transform your day.

But enough about the concept – let's talk fashion!

First off, let's give a shout-out to the diversity in the tutu world, especially in this age of inclusive dance. We're seeing everything from traditional romantic tutus ( think Giselle) to contemporary, multi-layered beauties, and even funky, edgy designs that really push the boundaries.

Today in Yarragon, I'm opting for a classic romantic tutu. It's got a soft, peachy blush hue, a layered skirt with just the right amount of tulle, and a gorgeous velvet bodice adorned with intricate embroidery. It's a tutu that screams ‘en pointe ballerina’ but can be styled up or down - I mean, it’s going to look great on the gram whether I’m doing grand jetés at the local park or just having coffee at the cafe with the girls. (This is the key to my Tutu Tuesday style! Who says a tutu can't be versatile?).

Speaking of style, let's chat about the best part – the styling! You can truly rock your tutu look to the max. Think:

  • Feminine: Pairing your tutu with a chic blouson, some delicate jewellery, and a pair of elegant heeled ballet flats is pure magic.
  • Edgy: Add some street-style cred with a leather jacket, a bold crop top, and chunky ankle boots, perfect for a coffee run or shopping adventure.
  • Retro: I’m all for vintage! A retro t-shirt with graphic motifs, high-waisted denim shorts and a pop of colour from some vintage-inspired accessories would make any outfit pop!
  • Chic Casual: A basic white t-shirt or oversized jumper and some trusty sneakers - comfy yet totally on-trend!

My tip for looking amazing, wherever you’re at? Confidence. The way a Tutu makes you feel – graceful, powerful and free - shines through when you strut your stuff. Don’t forget, It's not about being perfect; it’s about embracing the joy of movement, of fashion and most importantly, having a great time!

Yarragon itself, nestled among stunning landscapes, is the perfect backdrop for a tutu adventure. Today, I’ll be wandering around the town, grabbing a coffee at Yarragon Bakehouse, soaking up the beauty of Lake Bunga, and, of course, snapping some pictures with fellow tutu lovers who have caught the Tutu Tuesday bug.

The beauty of Tutu Tuesday lies in its ability to inspire connection. Even here in the little town of Yarragon, it unites women of all ages - young and old. A common thread of love for dance, fashion and community, all wrapped in a whimsical, magical little package we call a tutu.

I have to mention – and I cannot believe this – Tutu Tuesday has even become a big thing here in Australia! This whole movement just feels really special and I have to thank everyone for being a part of this. You make this so fun and worthwhile!

And just because this little Tutu adventure has been amazing (so far at least!), we want to know, where will YOU be wearing your Tutu next Tuesday?

Don't forget to post your tutu pics and share them using the hashtags: #tututuesday, #tutulove, #tutuinspiration, #tutulife, and be sure to tag me in your posts! Olivia! (@yourfavouriteballerina)

Keep twirling and spread the tutu love. Until next week, lovelies. xx
