Tutu Tuesday in Binningup, Western Australia: A Celebration of Whimsy and Grace #tututuesday It’s Tuesday, which means only one thing for me, a tutu-loving ballet dancer: it’s time to unleash my inner ballerina and rock a tutu! And what better place to do it than in Binningup, Western Australia? This quaint coastal town is practically begging for a sprinkle of tutu magic. Let me tell you, getting my hands on the perfect tutu for today’s adventure was like choosing a magic wand. I had to find the perfect combination of colour, length, and, of course, sparkle. Eventually, I settled on a beautiful, pastel pink tulle tutu, perfect for the relaxed coastal vibes. It even has a whimsical butterfly print! Today’s tutu adventures are all about celebrating ballet in Australia, and let me tell you, it’s thriving! Binningup, though small, boasts a budding ballet scene – a beautiful testament to the passion for dance throughout Australia. I’m kicking off Tutu Tuesday in Binningup by stopping at the local cafe for a latte and some delicious cinnamon scrolls – after all, no ballerina can perform on an empty stomach. Then, it’s time for some exploration – a stroll along the beach with the salty breeze in my hair. It’s amazing how the ocean wind gives you that ballet-worthy flow in your movement, almost like an ocean-themed grand jeté. • Stop #1 - The Binningup Beachside Cafe Okay, so let’s talk about this cafe for a minute. They have this adorable, quaint courtyard that feels so dreamy. And what better way to kick off my tutu-infused afternoon than by enjoying some afternoon tea with a beautiful selection of pastries, finger sandwiches, and of course, more tea? Honestly, there was so much cake and it was all heavenly. They had everything from carrot cake to an array of French fancies and lemon meringue tart. The scones with the cream and jam were pure decadence. This little gem of a cafe is definitely going to become a favourite. They have such a sweet, chilled vibe. I love that they let me take photos with my tutu outside. The walls are covered in fairy lights and their gorgeous outdoor space gives me a little taste of Parisian glamour right in the heart of Binningup! • Stop #2 - The Binningup Art Gallery Next up: Art, glorious art! I just adore local artists. And this little art gallery on the corner of the main street is brimming with so much creativity and passion. You could practically feel the passion oozing out of every wall and canvas. It felt so intimate and unique. And guess what? I decided to surprise myself and bought a piece of art. I always think ballet is like a canvas in motion – every dancer creates their own art through their dance. So it was perfect for me to buy something artistic as a little reminder to be my most authentic self – always creating, always learning. • Stop #3 - Sunset at the Beach Now, this is my favourite part of the day: sunset. Watching the sky transform into a million shades of orange, purple, and pink is truly breathtaking, almost as mesmerising as the beauty of a full ballet performance. I’m soaking in the sunset hues while I watch the ocean waves dance. It’s just a gentle breeze, but it’s perfect for spinning, for feeling that soft, ethereal tutu swirling around me, and twirling under this mesmerising, naturally-occurring show. Oh, it’s a dance worthy of a grand finale! Tonight, the sunset was so gorgeous. There were bursts of bright colours painting the sky and I felt like I was walking through an oil painting, swirling with the vibrant, swirling brush strokes, much like a ballerinas' movements on stage. • Sharing the Joy I think this is the beauty of ballet: it’s like this powerful language we can all understand. We can appreciate the beauty, the movement, and the joy – whether it’s a full-scale ballet performance at the Opera House or just me taking a tutu spin at a local park. There’s so much joy to be found in sharing the love of dance. That’s what I love most about #tututuesday: it’s a reminder that the most powerful kind of beauty isn’t about what you wear or what you achieve; it’s about the joy you bring into the world, whether it’s one big leap of faith at a time or just one little pirouette at a time. So there you have it, my Tutu Tuesday in Binningup. If you're in Binningup on a Tuesday, you should try out this fun activity: wear a tutu and enjoy your day exploring the area. Happy Tutu Tuesday!
