Tutu Tuesday in South Murwillumbah, New South Wales: A Whirlwind of Tutu Love #tututuesday

G’day, fashionistas! It’s your girl, Lily, back with another dose of sartorial inspiration from the land down under. And what better day to talk about tutus than, you guessed it, Tutu Tuesday! Today we’re venturing out of the big smoke and hitting the streets of South Murwillumbah, New South Wales. The air might be a bit different out here, but the love for tutus is just as strong!

I’ve been lucky enough to be involved with the Australian ballet scene since I was a little tacker. You know, those days of tiny, sparkly tutus that made me feel like a magical creature. As I grew, so did my appreciation for the variety and history of tutu design. We've got the classic Romantic tutu, all wispy and airy, the pouter, the tutu with a more rigid shape and layered fabric – a statement piece for sure, and then there’s the tutu with the long, flowing layers, just a bit of extra drama on stage. I love seeing them all!

But today isn’t about the theatre. We’re about bringing a touch of ballet magic to everyday life. And that's exactly what's happening in South Murwillumbah. I’ve spotted local legends rocking their own unique styles of tutu fun.

From the classic black tutu to the vibrant, printed designs, and even some cheeky custom creations, tutu fashion is popping up everywhere. And who better to help bring tutu Tuesday to life than South Murwillumbah locals!

  • The adorable grandmother, Agnes, wearing a vintage, fluffy white tutu while walking her dog! The classic tutu with a modern touch!
  • The local butcher, Brad, with his cheeky ‘Meat Your Match’ t-shirt, paired with a daring black tulle tutu, a real mix of classic and rock’n roll.
  • A group of school kids, creating a mobile tutu parade with rainbow colours, a total celebration of freedom and creativity.

South Murwillumbah has truly embraced Tutu Tuesday! The community is all about celebrating individuality and letting loose. It’s amazing to see people from all walks of life stepping out in their most flamboyant form and it’s giving me all the feels!

So whether you're a ballet buff or just looking for a little extra flair in your life, embrace your inner ballerina. Embrace the twirl! Go out there and show off your own style! The only rule for Tutu Tuesday is to have fun and be yourself.

For now, it’s goodbye from South Murwillumbah! Make sure you’re following me for all things tutu Tuesday – you don't want to miss a thing!
