Tutu Tuesday in Wurruk, Victoria: A Ballet Blogger's Delight! #tututuesday G'day lovelies! It's your favourite Aussie ballet blogger, Maddie, and today I'm bringing you the best #tututuesday news from Wurruk, Victoria. If you haven't been following, Wurruk is an absolute hidden gem for ballet, and trust me, they know their tutus! This week I'm bursting at the seams to share some exciting developments in the world of tutus, and with some fab new local designs I can't keep these goodies a secret! The Wurruk Tutus Scene Let's start with the basics. Tutus are iconic. There's no arguing with that. In ballet, the tutu isn't just an outfit, it's a symbol. A symbol of elegance, grace, and dedication. For any dancer, it’s a major highlight, it’s a real confidence booster. A bit like slipping on a fabulous dress you know you look awesome in. There are different types of tutus, and here in Wurruk they all have their moments. • **The romantic tutu:** soft and flowing, a true fairytale style made of layers and layers of tulle. Think classic ballet like Swan Lake or Sleeping Beauty. • **The pancake tutu:** also called a classical tutu, with a stiff, structured, flat, single layer of tulle and a smaller silhouette. More modern than romantic. It can be super edgy and it's often used in neoclassical pieces, as seen in works by choreographers like George Balanchine. • **The tutu à la Française:** the real classic, a romantic tutu that emphasizes the curves of the dancer's body and flows with every movement. Like something out of a movie. **New Tutus in Wurruk** And speaking of tutu types, I have some exciting news. Local studio, “Dance with Joy” in Wurruk is introducing brand new tutu styles for their students this season! It’s all about keeping ballet fresh, engaging and fun in Wurruk. They’ve partnered with local designer and seamstress, Sharon at “Couture Creations.” • Sharon's first design, “The Wurruk Bloom” is a unique take on the romantic tutu. Sharon takes traditional romantic tutu fabrication and adds bold floral accents - and the design even includes pockets for our necessities, for any dancing lady who needs a bit of "lip balm and hairspray" on stage! • For those dancers who prefer a little more structure, there is "The Wurruk Whisper," a pancake tutu with beautiful lace details. • And for those who dare to be different, Sharon has introduced "The Wurruk Renegade" – a hybrid. This exciting design is made up of two different styles of fabric – one romantic, one modern, making for a visually stunning piece with two distinct silhouettes. It’s giving the vibe of the modern dancers we see today, strong yet elegant! Why Wurruk is The Best For Tutus I am constantly inspired by the ballet scene in Wurruk.
