Tutu Tuesday in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, Ontario: A Dance With Style Hey everyone! It’s your favourite Canadian ballerina and blogger here, back with another #tututuesday! Today, we’re taking a trip to the charming little town of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh in beautiful Ontario. You might be surprised, but ballet isn’t just about big city life – it's everywhere, even in smaller towns! I've discovered so many amazing ballet studios and passionate dancers all over Canada, and Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh is no exception. This Tuesday, I'm focusing on something extra special – tutus! And not just any tutus. We're diving into the world of different tutu styles. Every dancer knows a tutu isn't just a tutu; it's a statement. A World of Tutu Styles * **The Romantic Tutu:** Ah, the classic! It's what we usually imagine when we think of a tutu. This airy, delicate beauty features multiple layers of tulle that make it look almost like a cloud. It's perfect for portraying romantic and ethereal characters, like ballerinas dancing in a fairytale. * **The Platter Tutu:** Think of a platter – that’s the shape this one is meant to create. It has fewer layers, and the tulle is more rigid. The result is a shorter tutu that adds an elegant touch and emphasizes the ballerina’s beautiful lines. Think classical ballets like Swan Lake and Giselle. * **The "Pick-up" Tutu:** As the name suggests, this tutu features a flexible top layer that’s pulled up before the performance. The effect is more streamlined than a traditional tutu but with some romantic volume and movement. It's super versatile for showcasing technical skills in all sorts of ballets. * **The “Costume Tutu:”** Not technically a real tutu but a cute one for fun costumes. These are less structured and can feature fun shapes and colours! This is perfect for younger dancers and special shows like “The Nutcracker.” This can be really imaginative! * **The "Demi Tutu:”** A beautiful mid-length tutu, sitting right in between the Romantic and the Platter styles. These provide a balanced look and are very flattering! Finding Tutu Inspiration in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh In Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, I'm particularly inspired by a local dance school.
