Tutu Tuesday in Eastman, Quebec: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion

Hey everyone! It’s your favourite Canadian ballet dancer and blogger, here to talk about something near and dear to my heart: Tutu Tuesday!

Every Tuesday, I like to put on my favourite tutu and feel like a graceful ballerina. And for this week’s Tutu Tuesday, I’m sharing my love of the art form and the fashion from my beautiful hometown of Eastman, Quebec! Let’s get right into it!

As a young dancer growing up in Eastman, I was always surrounded by a vibrant and passionate ballet community. There’s something special about the energy in this little corner of Quebec—we just love to celebrate our arts and culture! The studios were full of enthusiastic students, the stages were bustling with rehearsals, and the air was filled with the magical sounds of music.

So, Tutu Tuesday in Eastman is no ordinary Tuesday. It’s a chance to express your love for ballet, to flaunt those fabulous tutus, and to bask in the warmth of our artistic spirit. You’ll find tutus of all styles – the classic romantic tutu, with its layers of tulle that seem to float in the air, the contemporary tutu, which pushes the boundaries of tradition with bold colours and intricate designs, and the pointe tutu, the quintessential symbol of ballet, elegant and ethereal. You know I’m partial to the tutu with the most ruffles, obviously! The more fabric, the more drama!

What’s great about a Tutu Tuesday is that it brings together the whole community: from young ballerinas to seasoned professionals, everyone is invited to participate. You don't have to be a professional dancer to celebrate this wonderful art form! Even if you haven't danced in years, just put on your favourite tutu and rock it!

What makes Eastman special for ballet is its location. Picture this: picturesque hills, rolling countryside, crystal-clear lakes, and a strong sense of community. There’s an unmistakable charm in this beautiful setting – a magic you can only find in Eastern Townships of Quebec. That air of inspiration fills our studios and helps our community embrace the artistry and wonder of the world of ballet.

For this week’s Tutu Tuesday, we’re going all out at the studio in Eastman! I'm bringing my collection of tutus and a handful of friends for a little photoshoot. You can expect photos of graceful poses and stunning designs with the vibrant colours of Quebec’s fall leaves in the background – imagine those reds, oranges, and yellows in my photos!

Think I’m kidding about all of that? You’ll see. Look out for the photo shoot at our Instagram @balletoffquebec.
