Hello fellow dance lovers! It’s your girl, Lily here, and today we're taking a spin around St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador for a truly special edition of #tututuesday! This beautiful province on the east coast is brimming with unique charm, and today, we're exploring the enchanting world of tutus on the streets.
From Romantic to Bold, St. John’s is Embracing Tutu Style
My journey through the city today took me from the historic streets of downtown to the scenic harbourfront, and everywhere I turned, I was captivated by the bold and beautiful ways the women of St. John's were incorporating tutus into their everyday looks. It was clear: Tutu Tuesday in St. John's was no mere trend – it was a vibrant celebration of individuality and a playful embrace of fashion!
The tutus I spotted today showcased a fantastic diversity in style and spirit. Some ladies were rocking the classic Romantic Tutu: voluminous, soft, and made for twirling with effortless grace. These delicate creations evoked a sense of fairy-tale charm and graceful ballet artistry, and I felt myself whisked away to the world of the Nutcracker Ballet. It reminded me of all the magical memories I have performing in my own Romantic tutus with the National Ballet of Canada. There's something about their flowing fabric that always makes me feel like a princess on stage!
Others chose the power and precision of the modern tutu. This sleek style was made for those who want a contemporary twist on traditional dancewear. It is all about showcasing form and clean lines. I saw them paired with statement boots, edgy leather jackets, and even some stylish athleisurewear for a look that's truly bold.
There was even a handful of 'Mini Tutu' styles - so fun, flirty and whimsical, these were a real treat for my fashion eyes! I loved seeing the versatility of this style – worn by everyone from college students to working professionals. The way they combined mini tutus with bold colours and whimsical prints just highlighted the playful spirit of St. John’s!
And let's not forget about the 'Costume Tutu.' These tutus were the epitome of personality! We all have that friend who has a 'Costume Tutu' ready to be put on whenever the chance comes along! Today I saw these styled with vintage dresses, band tees, and even an amazing sequin top! They showed that fashion is meant to be fun and experimental, embracing individual expression with a playful, daring flair.
