Tutu Tuesday in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, Quebec: A Celebration of Twirling and Fashion #tututuesday Hey everyone, it’s your favourite ballet-obsessed blogger back at it again! As a Canadian dancer, I’ve always loved the idea of a Tutu Tuesday. You know, that special day where we celebrate all things tutu. Let's face it, there's something magical about a tutu. Maybe it's the way it makes you feel like a princess, or the way it swirls so gracefully. Whatever it is, I’m all about it! So, today I thought I'd share some of my favourite things about tutus, especially those stunning, romantic, and utterly beautiful tutu styles I’ve seen here in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, Quebec. It's a charming little town, perfect for a ballerina looking to strike a pose. You'll find lots of great photo-ops along the picturesque waterfront.
But first, let's talk about tutu styles We’ve come a long way from the traditional classical tutu with the tiered layers of tulle. You know, the one all ballerinas aspire to wear at least once in their career. From romantic and soft tulle styles to the structured, fitted and intricate designs that look like works of art, the tutu scene is booming and evolving in incredible ways. I have to say that I am completely enamoured with these recent, creative, modern tutu styles. Here’s a bit of what’s hot, and why:
* The Romantic Tutus: The epitome of delicate femininity. You know the one – lots of layers, billowing, billowing fabric. Often seen in a soft pink or pale blue. They’re almost a vision of a whimsical fairy tale! I love how this style looks with a flowy crop top or delicate ballet slippers for a relaxed yet stylish look. It’s so feminine and whimsical!
* The Structured Tutu: The structured tutu offers something a bit edgier. A bit more minimalist, these tend to have less volume but boast unique designs. I’m talking sharp, defined lines. Often using a fabric that holds its shape. This might be your best option if you prefer a modern look to something a bit more dramatic and bold. Think bold, dramatic colours. Imagine wearing it with a pair of statement heels and a bold blazer for a sassy edge! This look is super trendy! * The Fusion Tutu: I love that many designers are really mixing up the classic with the modern and making tutues their own! You’ll often see creative designs on a tutu bodice - like sparkling beading or bold embellishments, or dramatic combinations of materials. Think of it as haute couture on a tutu. I’ve seen stunning metallic and feathered ones for a theatrical feel! They’re totally unique, edgy, and completely on-trend. It makes a tutu for any occasion. Think: a fun cocktail party look.
