Tutu Tuesday in Stirling-Rawdon, Ontario: A Ballet Lover's Dream Come True! #tututuesday

Hey everyone, it's your favourite ballet-obsessed blogger, back with another #tututuesday post! This week, I'm taking you on a little adventure to the charming town of Stirling-Rawdon, Ontario. If you're a tutu aficionado like myself, you know that finding the perfect tutu can be like finding a needle in a haystack. So when I heard about this amazing boutique tucked away in this picturesque town, I knew I had to check it out!

The store itself is a total dream! Imagine vintage lace, sparkling sequins, and the delicate whispers of tulle - it's truly a tutu paradise. As soon as I stepped inside, I felt transported to another time. The shop owner, a delightful woman named Mrs. Davies, has been collecting tutus for decades, and her collection is nothing short of spectacular.

From the classic romantic tutu, billowing and ethereal, to the sassy contemporary tutu, all sharp angles and fierce confidence, Mrs. Davies has it all. She even had some incredibly rare antique tutus, meticulously preserved and looking as if they were ready to grace a stage from the golden age of ballet.

As a professional dancer myself, I was blown away by the quality and variety of tutus available here. I learned so much about different tutu styles and their history. For example, did you know that the traditional "romantic" tutu evolved from the tutus worn by dancers in the late 19th century? And did you know that the contemporary tutu is a much more recent innovation, reflecting the evolution of ballet choreography in the 20th century?

Mrs. Davies was such a treasure trove of knowledge. She shared stories of ballet in Canada and the many talented dancers she's seen throughout her life. She also told me about how the tradition of tutu-wearing has evolved over time, both on stage and off. Did you know that there are actually some amazing tutu trends going on right now in the fashion world?

Here are a few tutu trends I've been seeing everywhere:

  • Tutus as everyday wear: It's not just for ballet anymore! The playful elegance of a tutu has spilled into fashion, and designers are creating gorgeous tutu skirts and dresses that you can wear on the streets or at special events.
  • Layered tulle: This is one of my favourite trends, giving a vintage, romantic vibe with cascading layers of tulle. Imagine a flowy, whimsical skirt perfect for summer or a winter ball!
  • Bold colour pops: Don't be afraid to embrace a vibrant hue! Neon pink, electric blue, sunny yellow, you name it - colourful tutus are making a statement and are definitely eye-catching. It's a playful way to inject some fun into any outfit.

I left Stirling-Rawdon with a new appreciation for the art of tutu-making and the rich history of ballet in Canada. It was inspiring to see how this small town has become a hub for all things ballet! Thanks to Mrs. Davies and her amazing store, #tututuesday just got a whole lot more exciting!
