Tutu Tuesday in Mont-Orford, Quebec: A Ballet Blogger's Diary

Hey everyone, it's your girl, Isabelle, back with another blog post from the heart of Quebec, nestled amongst the beautiful scenery of Mont-Orford. Now, I'm known for being a little obsessed with tutus, and as any self-respecting ballerina knows, Tuesday is the day to flaunt your tutus. It's become my own personal #tututuesday ritual, and trust me, this one was a real doozy!

First things first, let's talk about the tutus. Now, for those of you who aren't in the know, there are a ton of different tutu styles. You've got your classic romantic tutu, all floaty and dreamy with a tonne of layers. Then there's the more structured and contemporary tutu, made for powerful jumps and spins. Today, I went for a romantic tutu, a little bit vintage-inspired, with layers of tulle that felt like dancing on a cloud. The colours? Think soft pink with accents of pearl-white – a truly enchanting combination! It was definitely the perfect choice for twirling amongst the trees in Mont-Orford, with its peaceful ambiance.

Mont-Orford is known for its serene beauty. You’ve got these lush forests, crystal-clear lakes, and stunning views, a bit of a breath of fresh air, don't you think? It's the perfect place for me to unwind after a busy week of ballet rehearsals and classes. In fact, one of the things I love most about the ballet community in Canada is that it's filled with this passionate, creative energy that is simply contagious. Everyone is always willing to learn from one another, to support each other's dreams, and to just be, well, amazing. It's really an incredible community to be part of!

But back to Mont-Orford. With my trusty tutu by my side, I wandered around the trails, feeling like a fairytale princess, or a woodland sprite if you want to be more specific. The rustling of leaves sounded like whispers of applause, the gentle breeze a warm breeze on a perfect day, and the sun’s rays illuminating the dancing tulle just added another dimension. Trust me, it was magical, folks! There were moments I could have sworn I was back on stage, all eyes on me as I leaped and twirled, except for this time I had a much larger audience of towering trees and giggling birds!

What’s a Tutu Tuesday without capturing these magical moments? As you know, my Instagram game is pretty on-point, so I made sure to document my tutu escapades in Mont-Orford with some Insta-worthy shots. Let’s just say, with the right light, my romantic tutu practically did a photo shoot by itself! Now, my favourite one? It’s this image where I’m just gliding across the path with the sun reflecting on the tulle – honestly, pure ballet bliss. You should see it! It’s absolutely giving a picture of grace and whimsicalness – and the way the wind dances with the layers of tulle just adds a whole new layer of beauty. And speaking of beauty, the colours – soft pink and white - complemented the forest’s greenery so flawlessly. Honestly, you gotta check out my Instagram if you want the real deal. #tututuesday and #ballet #quebeclife!

I mean, isn’t the beauty of a tutu its ability to inspire whimsy, joy, and above all, movement? From a young age, ballerinas learn to communicate through their movements and find their stories within a simple, elegant step, and for me, tutus have always been this physical manifestation of that. In this tutu, it was the forest's story: graceful, resilient, vibrant. It's about reminding ourselves that we can find beauty in unexpected places and that even the simplest things can hold a powerful sense of artistry and meaning.

Here's a quick recap of my tutu adventures:
