Tutu Tuesday in Lacolle, Quebec: A Celebration of Dance and Style #tututuesday

Hey, fashionistas! It’s your girl, Chloe, back with another post about all things dance and fashion. I’m here today to tell you about my epic adventure to Lacolle, Quebec for a little Tutu Tuesday fun. If you’ve never experienced this amazing city, you need to put it on your list – it’s brimming with charm, beauty, and a whole lot of dance magic!

I was particularly excited about Lacolle because this quaint town boasts a thriving dance community. The ballet scene in Canada is amazing, you guys, and it seems like there's a passion for it all over. We love our pointe shoes, we love our leaps and we love our tutus. But it’s more than just graceful pirouettes and elegant jetés. In Lacolle, they see ballet as an art form that celebrates movement, emotion, and individuality – a philosophy I definitely subscribe to.

Tutu Tuesday started off with a trip to the charming little café near the heart of town. They had the best chai lattes ever (they even used real maple syrup!), and the locals were so warm and welcoming. It really sets the mood for the rest of the day.

But here's the best part - Tutu Tuesday was about embracing all kinds of tutus – from the classic, romantic styles to modern and daring designs. It wasn't about adhering to strict rules. We embraced our own style and rocked it like we owned the stage!

  • Some ladies were rocking classic tutus – think a traditional tulle confection in pink or white, perfect for those graceful, ethereal roles.
  • Others went for a more contemporary look – I spotted a couple of super sleek black tutus paired with fitted crop tops that screamed fierce, independent ballerina. You can definitely work a fierce ballerina look with a fitted black tutu – seriously, they’re my fave for performance looks and casualwear. The pleated tulle just adds such a cool edge.
  • And then, there was the sheer variety! We saw layered tulle with floral embellishments, sparkly ones with sequins, even tutu skirts that were more like wearable art with feathers and fringe – the creativity was truly endless!

What made the day truly special, though, was the way everyone came together to celebrate their love for dance. Whether they were seasoned pros or first-time twirlers, the smiles on everyone's faces said it all: We were in a safe, fun and loving environment to celebrate our passion.

Of course, my look for the day was an explosion of vibrant pink with a shimmering pink tutu. I mean, when in Lacolle, you gotta go bold, right? And this beautiful piece wasn't just your average tulle affair - it was multi-layered, which made it really dynamic as I walked, adding just the right amount of flair.

Let’s be honest, tutus are a pretty cool way to express yourself and you really do feel like a dancing princess. We talked about tutu styling and choreo – how can we make Tutu Tuesday into a real dance extravaganza? And trust me, this conversation got deep - the possibilities for dancing are just so amazing. We went beyond our normal classes - exploring fusion styles with ballet and contemporary dance, playing with textures, flow and rhythm.

The energy on Tutu Tuesday was contagious! Everyone had an incredible sense of community and the spirit of dance flowed through the air like an enchanting melody. Even just walking through the town and watching other tutu-wearers – there was just this undeniable sense of joy! I felt the most empowered and energized while embracing my inner dance diva – honestly, how could you not feel confident in a tulle masterpiece?

As I ended my amazing day in Lacolle, I had a feeling that I’d be coming back for many more Tutu Tuesdays. This experience was about connecting with others, celebrating movement, and unleashing my own creative expression, and this place definitely understood that.

Lacolle, you were amazing! But wait – we are not done yet, my dear readers, because now it's YOUR turn to rock those tutus, take photos, use #tututuesday and share your dance energy with the world. Keep rocking those tutus! Remember to capture your tutu-fabulous moments in photos and tag me!
