Tutu Tuesday in Spaniards Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada: A Celebration of Grace and Whimsy #tututuesday Hey everyone! Itā€™s your girl, Claire, back with another post about the beautiful art of ballet and the latest fashions. Today Iā€™m sharing all the joy of "Tutu Tuesdayā€ from Spaniards Bay, a charming fishing village nestled along the shores of Newfoundland. Now, if you're not familiar with Tutu Tuesday, it's basically the most fantastic, fabulous, and frankly tutu-riffic way to start the week! The whole concept was sparked by a love for ballet and this unique city. Imagine all those graceful twirls, elegant jumps, and the sheer beauty of the ballet world but celebrating it every Tuesday! My Tutu Tuesday style tip? Embrace your inner prima ballerina and dance like no one's watching. Itā€™s about letting loose, feeling free, and spreading some joy! Here's the deal: every Tuesday, we gather at the quaint, historical harbour, our tutus blowing in the salty breeze, a symphony of pinks and blues swirling as we get our ā€œdanceā€ on. But what makes Spaniards Bay so perfect for a Tutu Tuesday, you ask? Iā€™ll tell you! Itā€™s like stepping into a time capsule. The cobblestone streets, the bright-painted houses, and the welcoming, kind locals make it the ideal backdrop for a magical tutu-filled event. Spaniards Bay has always had this special kind of energy, but with the addition of "Tutu Tuesday,ā€ it's like magic! What Iā€™m wearing for my Tutu Tuesday style For this Tutu Tuesday, I decided to wear a whimsical tulle tutu, soft lavender colour. The tutu I'm wearing is definitely on the classic, Romantic-era ballet side ā€“ which, if you're unfamiliar with tutu history, are these soft and puffy styles, as opposed to the classic 'tutu de pique', those tighter, shorter and sometimes layered tutus. And what makes my outfit even better? The fact that my hair was whipped into a loose bun by my dear friend, Anya, another passionate dancer and huge supporter of Tutu Tuesday, who also happens to be the local hairstylist with a knack for all things hair and make-up. (Check out her Insta @AnyaTheHairstylist ā€“ you wonā€™t be disappointed) We all rocked our tutus, dancing in an afternoon that's full of pure, unadulterated joy. Itā€™s moments like these that really solidify my belief that ballet isnā€™t just about the artistry; itā€™s about community. Even in this small fishing town, we found a way to celebrate the elegance and grace of ballet through Tutu Tuesday, spreading that beautiful message to everyone. Thereā€™s more to Tutu Tuesday than just dancing Hereā€™s a secret: itā€™s not all about ballet! I mean, who doesn't love ballet, right? But Tutu Tuesday is a time when everyone gets to wear their ā€œfancy dress.ā€ So imagine everyone in their tutu, dancing with a smile on their face and heart full of joy while they're enjoying some local treats like fresh donuts, juicy blueberries, or hot apple cider. Think Tutu Tuesday as a perfect opportunity to engage with fellow ballet lovers, mingle with the local community, and take a break from the routine. You donā€™t have to be a ballet dancer No matter what your age, background, or dancing skills, everyoneā€™s invited to participate. In fact, the less experienced dancers can find a real sense of joy by simply being themselves, having a great time, and feeling part of a really unique and beautiful community. It's all about having a good laugh, spreading a little kindness and spreading the message that ballet is for everyone. Tutu Tuesday has had a huge impact on the whole of Spaniards Bay. Now when tourists come to Spaniards Bay they love to wear tutus as a symbol of celebration! You've got people wearing classic white tutus, tutu dresses with colourful tulle layers, short tutus in every colour you can think of - theyā€™re truly a beautiful sight, and the energyā€™s infectious! Thereā€™s this amazing feel of camaraderie and excitement for Tutu Tuesday - something special you won't find anywhere else. The success of "Tutu Tuesday" highlights the vibrant and joyful spirit of Newfoundland. And honestly, the locals are some of the most genuine and warm people youā€™ll ever meet - a truly unique experience that reflects the essence of Newfoundland. This whole movement wasnā€™t an overnight success, either. It started as a small project that was all about bringing people together and celebrating our love for ballet and all its beauty and elegance. It's grown beyond just that and has become a symbol for people who just want to enjoy the simple things in life, embrace the uniqueness of each day and spread kindness, friendship, and of course - love for tutus! It's amazing to see something start so small and end up being this awesome celebration of community and a fun way to show that ballet is for everyone! You can check out some awesome shots from Tutu Tuesday on Instagram by using #TutTuesday! Thereā€™s nothing better than being part of this positive community and sharing it with the world. Now, letā€™s not forget the beauty of Canadaā€™s ballet world! Weā€™re known for having some world-renowned dance companies, and itā€™s been such an honour to share the beauty and elegance of ballet in my little part of Canada. So letā€™s take a moment to applaud our Canadian dancers! Their hard work, dedication and talent never ceases to amaze. I want to take the time to acknowledge all of the amazing ballet schools in our amazing country - we're lucky to have so much talent blossoming in every corner of our country. Itā€™s always an inspiring experience seeing talented ballet dancers bring their artform to life! Whether youā€™re a fan of tutus or you just want to enjoy the lively atmosphere of a town in Canada, I recommend a visit to Spaniards Bay, Newfoundland. You'll leave feeling inspired by its welcoming community and feeling a little tutu-infused yourself! #TutuTuesday #ballet #canada #newfoundland #SpaniardsBay #love #dance
